An officer now has no idea what to expect when they stop a person of color. Will that person be compliant and respectful or will that person become aggressive and resist?

Oh I can, it’s just easier to call shenanigans. The mid 80s to the mid 90s were the most violent era in American history since the civil war. Police had lost control of the streets almost entirely in the inner city during the crack epidemic and were fighting what was essentially a guerrilla war against gangbangers and drug crews while those dudes fought amongst each other for drug corners worth millions.

It was absolute bedlam. Not enough cops, not enough jail cells, not enough prosecutors, not enough judges or trial slots. And the cops were on the street with a revolver, a nightstick and vests so ■■■■■■ they wouldn’t stop a nine mil, which they usually didn’t bother to wear.

To say it’s more dangerous now, or even ten years ago, is a ■■■■■■■ joke.

Oh you mean when they were screaming for the cops to get control of serious violent crime and instead got broken windows quality of life arrests and digging in fiend’s pockets for a rock and an easy collar while murder clearance rates were less than fifty percent and aggravated assault and attempted murder clearances were less than ten percent.

So am I. It was much, much more dangerous twenty, twenty five years ago than it is now for cops. It’s literally never been safer to be police than it is now.

White people have never used crack in large numbers. They always preferred powder. Inner city whites certainly used crack, though.
