Whether or not the new variable has a significant impact remains to be seen, but this is definitely a new variable.
They never touched pols before either; until now

Are you kidding?
New York prosecutors are famous for going after politicians
The speaker of the ny state assembly died serving a 6.5 year sentence in a federal prison in 2022
He was a democrat.

So let me get this right.
Trump borrows millions of dollars from banks and pays it all back. That equals fraud.
But millions of punk deadbeats borrow money for school, pay none back. And that doesn’t equal fraud.
bidens America.
You guys can have it.

Highlighted.
And they could. However the NY Governor said nobody else has to worry about that because they’re not Trump.
Seems to me that if there were a problem with inflated valuations being used for loans from banks, that the banks would act to validate those valuations. (Oh wait… They do that already.)

No. They throw bankers who expose illegal offshore accounts of politicians into prison, while the names of the tax cheats are never revealed. See the Brad Birkenfeld interview above.
On the other hand, they let bankers responsible for massive fraud and abuse hundreds of billions in fraud and abuse walk.
The “justice system” is all about protecting corrupt politicians and their wealthy benefactors. Trump and Birkenfeld have been prosecuted because they threaten the system.
Yep exactly. This was a politically targeted lawsuit. They could have hit anybody with it but targetted President Trump. Nobody wonders why and i don’t believe other businesses are taking heed either

Thanks for agreeing with me.
Trump establishes the precedent. If they can destroy Trump, no business is safe.

They went after Trump to get Trump. For reasons obvious to everyone
That’s like Bush v Gore - never to be used as precedent
Trump lies to borrow millions. And pays it all back. That is still fraud.
If I opened a $10,0000 line of credit in Zippys name. Took the money and paid it back. Is it still fraud?
Yes, I agree that businesses who pay enough protection money (aka contributions to Democrats) are not likely to be targeted for prosecution.
Of course the cost of protection is likely to go up if they are able to destroy Trump.
Mafia-style politics are nothing new in New York. The difference is they are making no attempt to hide the obvious corruption.

Trump didn’t borrow money in someone else’s name. And what is it about banks doing their own due diligence that you guys keep feigning ignorance about? I know you know damn well that banks do not loan money against property without having the property appraised. Have you, or any Lib in this forum EVER walked into a bank for a loan against your house and they just give you whatever you ask for on your word? And how would you like it if you went into your bank to get a loan, the bank checks out your house says ok and then you get sued for fraud because I COME ALONG AND SAY YOU’RE GUILTY OF FRAUD BECAUSE I VALUE YOUR SHACK AT 2500.00?

You missed the point.
I used openings a line of credit in someone else’s name as an example of fraud. Just because someone follows the terms of an agreement… doesn’t mean they didn’t commit fraud to get the terms in the first place.
Banks do their due diligence to protect themselves from harm but that doesn’t mean that fraud is blamed on the bank.
Would you blame the bank if someone defrauded them by cashing a bad check?

It’s a wonderful city- vibrant, busy, diverse, fun. I love to see the MAGAts, most of whom have no first hand experience with NYC, act like they know all about it.

No, you missed the point. If the issue is the value of property given by Trump was overstated then it seems it would necessitate the expertise of someone in real estate to be involved somewhere in that determination. The banks have people that work for them called appraisers. Know what their expertise is in? Sure you do. Not just any appraisers either, but appraisers who specialize in the types of properties that someone like Donald Trump would own and offer as collateral for loans. In Trump’s case, not one person from any bank who did business with Trump made any claim whatsoever about Trump overstating his property values. The “real estate expert” used was the same judge who presided over Trump’s case. Without even leaving his courtroom in New York, he was able to miraculously appraise Mar-A-Lago, a huge estate in Palm Beach Florida, at 18 million dollars! You couldn’t buy a parking spot in Palm Beach for 18 million dollars.
Fraud is an act that someone deliberately does in bad faith to deceive. Writing a bad check is done by people who either knowingly can’t pay, or deliberately have no intention to pay. It’s true that people sometimes unintentionally write bad checks. Maybe they miscalculated their checkbook balance or perhaps thought their paycheck would hit the bank before the check they wrote. Banks seldom lose money to people who make mistakes. They fine people who overdraw and will usually work with people who are willing to make good their mistake. The law usually only gets involved with the dishonest- those with the intent to not pay or the habit of not paying, and intent is usually a mitigating factor in how a bank, or the law deals with people. None of this did Trump do and his “Penalty” was beyond just and reasonable.
This was part of the political assassination that the left has been carrying out against Trump since before he was elected. They hate his guts because he upsets the balance of absolute power they seek. You know what they’re doing to Trump is ■■■■■■■■ just like I do, you just don’t care and won’t admit it because you’re a Trump hater too. But as I said, this is going to backfire. Even if the left is successful against Trump, Republicans will gain power back at some point and some will use the precedents your leaders are using now against Trump against your side, either that or we will become another Banana Republic of impoverished citizens with dictators for leaders. That’s the goal of people like the Bidens, Clinton’s, Obamas and their good little Communist minions in Congress and Senate.
Careful what you wish for…
