Yet she was the only one climbing through and wasn’t actually in the one broken out window. I also noticed that the 3 officers holding the line outside the door moved out of the way. I would have relieved each one of them of duty. Their job was to hold that line until help arrived. And we see that help in the form of tactical officers arrived moments after she was shot.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. And my fellow conservatives will disagree with me.

I don’t fault the guy for shooting her.

When you are defending a physical location, there has to be a “here and no further” point. Otherwise there’s no point in being there to defend in the first place.

This was exemplified during pre mob training going to Iraq. Gate guards were instructed to hold a gate, and then training “protestors” would rush their positions. It doesn’t matter how peaceful the protestors were, once they were within arms reach you no longer had a defense.

It’s the same reason the “duty to retreat” laws concerning self defense are so utterly stupid. But in this case because of the politics, the roles have reversed. Duty to retreat doesn’t become a good defensive tactic just because it was a conservative that got shot.

If you don’t have a red line in the sand, then there’s no point being armed in the first place.

This is an unconsidered dimension of the discussion. It actually goes to just when is deadly force authorized. This is where the actual use of force policy of the officer’s agency has to be reviewed in relation to his actions.
