And that was from the 1-6 committee.
Then of course there’s christopher miller’s testimony about it.

You should probably read it before posting an article that says exactly what @sikofit said…. Just a thought.

Some people like to interpret things different ways than others.
Here’s the VanityFair piece i posted here 2 years ago. You’ll notice the direct quotes from christopher miller.
The president, Miller recalled, asked how many troops the Pentagon planned to turn out the following day. “We’re like, ‘We’re going to provide any National Guard support that the District requests,’” Miller responded. “And [Trump] goes, ‘You’re going to need 10,000 people.’ No, I’m not talking ■■■■■■■■■ He said that. And we’re like, ‘Maybe. But you know, someone’s going to have to ask for it.’” At that point Miller remembered the president telling him, “‘You do what you need to do. You do what you need to do.’ He said, ‘You’re going to need 10,000.’ That’s what he said. Swear to God.”
And kash patel:
To hear Patel tell it, they were on autopilot for most of the day: “We had talked to [the president] in person the day before, on the phone the day before, and two days before that. We were given clear instructions. We had all our authorizations. We didn’t need to talk to the president. I was talking to [Trump’s chief of staff, Mark] Meadows, nonstop that day.”

Was he taking about protection of the demonstrators?
Who cares? The acting defense secretary was on the record with a reporter well before the ridiculous J6 committee was started and he clearly described his conversations with the president. On top of that the White House/Pentagon liaison described his conversations with all of the principles involved, and definitely stated that ALL AUTHORIZATIONS were in place.
If those troops were approved by D.C. and the Capitol police they would have been
protecting all involved. Instead, bowser asked for 340 to watch Metro stops and intersections.

What do you mean who cares? The point is that the idea was that national guard wasn’t going to be deployed to protect the Capitol but to protect his supporters.
That’s not a difference without distinction.
They would have been protecting all involved with their presence. Just because you think they only would have applied to protecting trump supporters doesn’t make it so.
That’s absurd.

I am not arguing that. Of course they would have Come on now. The point is that The premise was to protect the supporters.

It’s not absurd. Here’s why the difference matters.
If the orders were to put them in place to protect Trump supporters (which the article you cited clearly states that’s what they were supposed to be there for) one must ask “from whom must Trump supporters be protected?”
The answer to that question would of course be…counter-protestors.
On Jan 6, counter protests did not emerge as an issue, so why would the NG, whose orders were for deployment were to PROTECT Trump supporters, be asked to deploy?
At no time…until it happened, it appears…did anyone imagine that there were going to be people who needed protection FROM Trump supporters.

Again it is really interesting that people from the Party of Independent Thinkers are trying to blame Trump supporters storming the Capitol on government agents “egging them on”.
Are “independent thinkers” that easily swayed to break the law by people they don’t know?
Interesting…

You think Trump was popular with conservatives before? Now he is the guy who finally delivered on a promise the GOP had been making for fifty years. He owns the GOP for the rest of his life.

Not just swayed or urged, barriers were removed to trick people into thinking it was legal to enter the grounds.

Obviously an FBI set up, we just have to wait until dems are booted from power in congress to make it official.

Ah so you’re saying these Trump supporters in DC that day were stupid instead of easily swayed.
“They let us in. It MUST be legal”.
Ok…you go with that…
