While I think Trump will narrowly carry North Carolina, I think Democrats will do quite well in Council of State races.
Once the negative ads come out in force, Robinson will slip out of the picture. Stein is a strong candidate and Republicans needed a far better candidate to defeat him. I think we will see another divided Council of State, either 5 to 5 or 6 to 4 either way.
A Democratic Governor provides a necessary offset to the Republican supermajority in the State Legislature and Republicans will hold a few Executive Branch offices.
The status quo between Cooper and the legislature has worked out pretty well.
