It really has nothing to do with hatred of Trump. Itās about exploring your obedience to him.
I read your posts. I think your concept of a perjury trap is not the usual one used in literature. I think you think Trump is just going to lie about something, perhaps out of impulse to defend himself, perhaps just thatās how he is, always shooting from the hip. But thatās not going to make it a perjury trap in the traditional sense. In your sense, any time Trump is under oath itās a perjury trap because heās just that much of a liar and doesnāt have that great of impulse control.
I donāt actually think thatās right, though. I think Trump is smart enough to understand what is a lie and isnāt. I think heās also smart enough not to tell lies on the stand. Heās been under oath for other things and as far as I can tell, heās been truthful. I think the reason Trump wonāt go under oath is not because heās afraid to accidentally tell a lie. I think heās more worried heāll have to tell truths that he doesnāt want to admit.
This article explains former Trump lawyer John Dowdās strategy in allowing McGahn and others to be interviewed by Mueller.
āThereās no way that Don McGahn was not going to testify. And we didnāt want him subpoenaed before a grand jury. We didnāt want to litigate it because itās a loser. He doesnāt have an attorney client privilege with the president. And executive privilege would probably not survive a grand jury test."
āOn executive privilege, Ty did a great thing. He let Bob [Mueller] see everything because heās part of the executive but if he ever wants to use it he has to come back to the White House and get permission to use it."
Why is it when someone answers you directly, you veer away like that? Why donāt you quit playing games and get serious instead of calling everyone else Trump haters. Is that too hard?
iām fairly certain the wh counsel represents the president. are you suggesting sending what is essentially his lawyer to answer questions for him is being uncooperative? perhaps youāve read the 4th amendment?
The White House Counsel offers legal advice to the President, the Counsel in the Presidentās official capacity but does not serve as the Presidentās personal attorney.
a distinction without a difference. the ONLY difference between the two is the president cannot rely on attorney client privilege, he must rely on executive privilege, which he was so concerned about he waived it.
