Solid post.
No. People pay into that program. Itās not welfare.
No. People pay into that program. Itās not welfare.
So people only get back what they have paid into medicare?
tnt:Did it ever occur to you that the reason we are the greatest country on earth, and the best economy the world has ever seen is largely because of what we choose to spend money on?
I wonder if it ever occurred to him too that the rich have grown their wealth exponentially the last 40 years, have had their taxes lowered consistently every decade the last 40 years, and the middle class and poor have fallen further and further behind. Of course, that just means they need MORE and itās all Jenny on food stampās fault
And yet, the rich pay a higher percentage of the federal tax burden than they ever have.
from https://www.cnbc.com/2013/12/11/the-rich-do-not-pay-the-most-taxes-they-pay-all-the-taxes.html
Buried inside a Congressional Budget Office report this week was this nugget: when it comes to individual income taxes, the top 40 percent of wage earners in America pay 106 percent of the taxes. The bottom 40 percentā¦pay negative 9 percent.
zantax:No. People pay into that program. Itās not welfare.

No, that needs to be adjusted so that it breaks even.
The poor rich being so much more rich than ever before and paying more than ever in taxes in a result while most everyone else going backwards. The rich are so disadvantaged.
Yes, we can have a lifetime Medicare amount. Once you reach your maximum allowed, youāre off the program.
No, that needs to be adjusted so that it breaks even.
So, as it today, it really is welfareā¦
What does that have to do with the two posts you are responding to?
And also - Of course the wealthy pay a higher percentage of the total tax haul! They also control a higher percentage of wages and wealth! There is literally NOTHING surprising about the fact that the people with all the money pay all the taxes.
zantax: tnt:Lol. Tax cuts for corps, budget cuts for american citizens.
Budget cuts for Americans sounds so much worse than stealing money I earned to give it to those who didnāt earn it doesnāt it?
So, as long as itās other Americans having their budget cut, youāre OK with it? Iām sure the rich all earn every penny and those lazy poor donāt deserve a dime. Those Republicans and their strong Christian valuesā¦
Christian values have nothing to do with government spending and making OTHERS help the poor. Charity is a personal trait according to Abrahamic religionsā¦ not a government trait.
And yet, the rich pay a higher percentage of the federal tax burden than they ever have.
Well yea thatās because they are making exponentially more every decade and everyone else is stagnating. And to cons, the poor rich are always the victim.
zantax:No, that needs to be adjusted so that it breaks even.

Well, we can cut that too as far as I am concerned if it makes you feel better.
@JayJay has been saying for a year that Republicans were going to slash taxes on the richest Americans and cause a budget crisis so they could then hammer the poor. Heās spot on.
I wonder how poor republicans will stomach that.

So you arnt surprised that the larger share of tax cuts naturally go to those who pay the larger share of taxes. Most libs are astounded, amazed, and outraged by that.

Simple reason why, there is a surplus of unskilled labor. Tell them to stay in school and get a marketable skill.
Awesome. Cut all means tested welfare programs.
The next times someone complains that a liberal describes a conservative wanting to figuratively push granny off a cliff, Iām going to refer them to this post.
ImRightYoureWrong: zantax:Iād be happy to cut it out of the budget, you on board?
Tell me, with real numbers what to cut. Provide sources.
Sure thing
from U.S. Senate Committee On The Budget
The universe of means-tested welfare spending refers to programs that provide low-income assistance in the form of direct or indirect financial supportāsuch as food stamps, free housing, child care, etc.āand which the recipient does not pay into (in contrast to Medicare or Social Security). For fiscal year 2011, CRS identified roughly 80 overlapping federal means-tested welfare programs that together represented the single largest budget item in 2011āmore than the nation spends on Social Security, Medicare, or national defense. The total amount spent on these federal programs, when taken together with approximately $280 billion in state contributions, amounted to roughly $1 trillion.
Says the person who wants the government to subsidize tuition for people who send their kids to private schools.

We take care of our own grannies.
Maybe theyāre astounded because thatās the exact opposite of how the tax cuts were described by Trump.

And by subsidize, you mean simply allow them to keep their own money to choose where to spend it on education.
