Not necessarily, there are a lot of smart people without college and some dumb ones even have college degrees.

10% don’t.

What are you trying to glean from that data?

As someone who worked in education I can assure you all that the majority of college graduates are not highly intelligent. Furthermore, studies have shown that the majority of college graduates demonstrate little to no increase in critical thinking after 4 years of college.

College is more a state of mind or status than actual education.

Its up to the individual to determine the depth of learning beyond the lecture notes to just pass the test. Majority of students study to pass the test instead of studing to learn a particular subject in depth that result in real learning and proficiency. Also its impossible with unrealistic time schedule to really study anything in depth. Thus many textbook are barely used.

The various courses are just to be used to developed problem solving, communication and thinking skills using the couse subject to develop these skills. So all courses are composition, math and vocabulary oriented to develop these skills. This is why college entrance exams test on vocabulary, math and English composition.

But many students try to take the least resistance and select only classes with testing based on lecture notes or attendance based classes (for athletes or “jock” classes) to earn the credit but minimum in learning. Thus there are “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez” types that graduated from college just for showing up.

I would have even a more cynical view. College is by and large for most students about getting a piece of paper to attain a level of status in life in order to put yourself above others as well as to segregate yourself from others. Are not the “Ivy league” grads better and smarter than the rest of us? Why did these rich parents lie and cheat and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to get their children into certain schools? Why do students obsess about getting into specific schools to by and large learn the same things as they would anywhere else and spend tens of thousands of dollars more to do so?

College (and high school for that matter) is too long - nobody can even remotely absorb 4 years of the content they are exposed to and frankly forget the overwhelming majority of it. Most of the content by and large is useless on a practical level as well.

Its a game to the student to beat the system.
And it degenerated to a money racket for the institutions

Yepp.

Some of the smartest people I know have a one year vocational degree in welding or auto mechanics. They’re pulling in fantastic money.

Some of the dumbest people I have interacted with have master’s degrees and make less money than I do with nothing but a HS diploma.

Do you hate white people?

Yawn.

Vomit

It sure is.
