We’ll start seeing more of this as the consequences of the Trump tariffs become clearer.

I saw it last week. An immediate 4% increase on the cost of metal products I buy. No 30 day notice, nothing. Just BAM!

That actually hurts me because my quotes are valid for 30 days. So, I get to eat that 4%.

While it annoys me I didn’t have time to adjust my quotes I am willing to suck it up for 30 days if the end result is better for our country.

I can’t speak to farming, but I suspect with the subsidies most will weather the storm. I also suspect they will change what they grow to meet demand elsewhere and charge premium prices for it.

China is currently tapping reserves for soybeans and buying from South America (at a premium). It is a waiting game, a game of chicken. China knows we elect presidents every four years so they can gamble that the tides will turn in their favor.

I’d rather pay subsidies to our farmers, weather and win the trade war than I would build hospitals and bridges in foreign countries.

I’m sucking it up in my business and I’m not complaining.
