There should be no licenses to keep and bear arms. That would turn it into a privilege. I should not have to justify my right to bear arms to a state office like I do to drive on public roads.

Driving on roads owned communally by the people is a privilege. Keeping and bearing firearms is a right.

That is where I fundamentally disagree with the left. Much of the left (not all, mind you) views firearms as a privilege to be regulated. It isn’t a privilege. It’s a right.

I can respect that opinion. Let me ask you a question though. Can you lose rights through your own actions?

Yes of course. Due process. Your rights can be restricted if you infringe on the rights of someone else.

For example, if I shoot someone without just cause and not in self defense, I will go to prison and lose my right to bear arms after a trial and conviction. The key is due process.

We’ve had this discussion before. The system is broken and getting worse each year. At some point, the two parties are going to have to come together and put something in place to fix it. What we have now is unsustainable.
