There are two types of people in the world: those who can extrapolate based on incomplete data.

Thats wonderful. Dude can’t answer a simple question.

The far fetched examples to illustrate principles are as useful as a PETA member saying: well if you’re for hunting deer, you’re for hunting humans, because they’re all mammals. Or an anti-gun person saying “Well you 2nd amendment types must think everyone should be allowed to own nukes.”

It’s annoying nonsense and doesn’t deserve a response.

Is that because of it’s alleged liberal bent. I watch it every week almost. It’s usually pretty funny until after weekend update. Then it goes down hill for the most part. It still makes me laugh.

Stretching aren’t we?

And there it is in a nutshell ladies and gentleman. It appears from this post that people are afraid they are going to MicroChip them More conspiracy nutjobism.

I didn’t see it as a “simple question” though. It was a loaded question, especially within the context of the overall tenor of this portion of the thread. I saw it as a “gotcha” question, and your reaction to it affirmed my impression.

In fact, your question wasn’t relevant to the post you responded to (hinting at the “gotcha” intent of the question), and his response to your question attempted to sidestep it and draw the discussion back to what he was actually saying.

And your response to it: "So you’re an apologist. Great. So happy to have more people hellbent on bringing measles and polio back to protect “freedom”. … showed the “gotcha” nature of your question. Apologist? OK. The intent of the question was to conclude, therefore, that he wanted to bring back measles!!!

He could see right through the duplicity of your “simple question”. It goes that way a lot around here. (And then it triggers someone starting a thread complaining that someone else concluded he wanted people to die. In principle, that’s what you did here, albeit to a less harsh conclusion this time.)

Such as accusing someone of wanting to bring back measles??

If you want decent discussion, be decent yourself.

unfortunately, it sounds like the post pandemic plan… have to have a disease free utopia after all…

And so it begins:

Stopped before entering Home Depot today, masks were mandatory and they did a temperature check.

Public shaming? COOL!

Exposure by omission.

Your phone will give you a green check for everyone around you except that one guy…

No, it was always bent. I stopped watching it because it isn’t funny.

It was a hypothetical.
Should citizens be forced to receive tracking chip implants or brain chip implants that allegedly allow human-machine interface ( if some greater good can be imagined by government for it)?
What is your answer?

Fair enough.

I grew up.

Same here. Except I’ve never had the flu or the vaccine in my life. I’m 53.

The idea of government forcing people to do anything doesn’t sit well with me in general. There exists a need to evaluate the needs of the many vs the needs of the few. Ask the hypothetical question of whether a person who is a known risk of transmitting a disease to another and I think most people would agree that warrants some measure of action.

For example most states have laws on the books that say you can’t knowingly expose someone else to an STD such as HIV without their consent. Now look at the current COVID situation. Is it your responsibility to get tested for COVID and likewise is it your responsibility to stay away from those that don’t have it? Different mode of transmission, and in fact a much higher risk to do so since it requires no consent to do so.

Where do you draw the line?

Wow…thats pretty cool

I’ve no patience for antivaxxers or antivaxxer apologists. I have little patience for apologist apologists either.

Here’s the logic (modus ponens) why one can say Paul wants measles back:

If you allow personal freedom for people not to get a vaccine shot for a highly contagious disease, that disease spreads (see measles, 2019 outbreaks)

Paul wants the personal freedom to not get a vaccine shot (see his posts)

Therefore, if Paul gets what he wants, that disease spreads.

So you are for the govt forcing people to get immunized no matter their personal beliefs.

Just want to make sure I clearly understand your position.

Full disclosure my neighbor AND my mother in law both were infected by polio as kids.

Just curious. If I get the vaccine, why should I care if someone else gets vaccinated? Same goes for if I don’t. Why should others care as long as they get vaccinated?
