You could have bought health insurance between jobs. You can refuse to take your employers health insurance and buy on the marketplace. You repeatedly said you couldnt. Now you’re changing your argument - moving the goalposts.

It’s basically like the retarded argument your side makes that the subsidies made insurance more affordable. Affordable to me means the cost is low enough I can pay for it on my own, not other people are forced to pay the portion I can’t.

There’s one time of year, or Open Enrollment, to select benefits. Any changes allowed after are to add or remove a dependent following events like birth, finalized adoption, divorce, adult child gets own insurance or death of a dependent.

Any plan we didn’t like we were stuck with until the next Open Enrollment.

I wasn’t talking about through the Employer. My current employer offers Aetna. The plan I actually want is offered by Kaiser. Why can’t I just deal with Kaiser directly and waive what the employer is offering? Because of an arbitrary rule that says I can’t. That’s my issue.

Oh, I understand now.

I myself think there should be options for health insurance besides employer sponsored plans, & if a potential subscriber wants to deal directly with the insurer, he/she should be able to do so.
