When was that? Because the way I remember it, the EU offered to eliminate tariffs on only the automotive industry. Trump said a few days later in June:

Wouldn’t they have it already, if a devalued currency was so great? The point is, every nation wants a strong currency, not a devalued one. Yes there are short term advantages, but no for the long term.
