I get what you’re saying.

But in the case of Atlanta a significant percentage of the force called in “sick.” And I’m willing to bet their union is already organizing a department wide strike. And surrounding communities have already indicated they will not send assistance. You have the state police, but they are too few in number to patrol a city the size of Atlanta.

They can’t hire and train replacements for every precinct in the city fast enough if they decide to walk off the job and start running picket lines.

Cops don’t actually go on strike. They sick out or refuse to answer everything but emergency calls. This happened in. NYC in like the 70s or 80s when they were just super unhappy about anti corruption investigations.

I don’t think that’s the case in most of these inner cities. In NJ the cities that are near NY, yes to some extent, but for the other inner cities by and large the only people moving there are new immigrants.

Not true. I can tell you for sure that Seattle city core is full of young college grads , mostly homegrown

Not true. There’s a great deal of new high end residential and commercial construction in downtown Newark and it’s attracting younger professionals.

Newark is a terrific city with a lot going for it.
