I have many times stated my disdain for police officers on this site. (I have never supported their defunding however). The only way to get this stuff to stop is to make them individually responsible for the stupid stuff they do. These guys take their stupidity to a whole new level.
Yareni Rios-Ganzalez is a 20year old TSA agent in Colorado and works at Denver Intl Airport. She is on her way home and gets involved in a road rage incident, and the “Police Caller” says a gun is involved.
The police pull her over, and the “Police vehicle” parks on an active train track. They pull Miss Rios out at gun point and place her in the back of the very same police car that is parked on the train tracks. So they all have their testosterone flowing, except for Miss Rios who is really calm and just wants to know why she was stopped and what is going on. No time to tell her. Her vehicle needs to be searched. That is paramount!. No they dont move the car as it takes all of them to search her vehicle for the gun. Then along comes a train, and no one close thinks to move their police car until it is too late. The train horn starts blaring, one fine officer is actually standing by the car and saves himself and yells “Stand Back” but never attempts to move the police vehicle or get her out. The police car gets hit by the train with this young woman inside. Watching the video, I am surprised she lived through it.
Her is the article:
Here is the video:
I cant help but think what would have happened if a member from a different minority group had been in that police car. Maybe the whole state of Colorado would have been burned down.
I feel pretty much the same way about the police, and I also never supported defund the police. Here is where you will be told that is just a few bad apples and has nothing to do with police culture.
Do you know if they are self insured? I would expect them to have some type of insurance policy to cover issues like this.
I think the police officers themselves should have to carry a million dollar bond incase they do something outside the law. If something happens that is considered in line of duty, the department carrys the loss. They do something outside the law like with Chauvin or Freddy Grey, they individually take the hit and that is where the bond would kick in. If they did it that way, a bad apple would never get bonded again so he couldnt jump departments.
It is a problem for citizens. Citizens can elect politicians that can solve it but the consequence of a snail pace reformation process is more death and operationally defiant citizens. It has to start at the top.
Defund them, mock them, remove any immunity while people with high school educations make daily life and death situations, spread hatred that can lend to violence against the police.
That is how you can be sure that you will get the best and the brightest to enter police work.
