I’m talking about Wokeness and Cancel culture. It’s seems to have this negative connotation when conservatives cry about it.

So I brought up an unlikely conservative hero in MLK to make the distinction that 2021 conservatives love MLK and his cancel culture… but hate when a similar thing happens in 2021.

Making it personal? Okay, show me where I’m whining.

This is your narrative lens. I don’t use it.

Challenging their grievance is considered whining. They simply ignore the fact that the conservative grievance itself is actually the whining.

See the thread on Muppets for confirmation

Season 1, episode 2 features longtime conservative Republican Connie Stevens.

It airs without disclaimer.

Ummmm…you are using a WWII propaganda cartoon for an example.
Japs and Krauts were treated as less than human and evil. The idea was that it was ok to kill them.
No, I would not use a propaganda cartoon in a childs book today.

I used it as an example to counter the idea that the caricatures in the books in question are harmless.

If you can see why it would be wrong in a political cartoon certainly making the leap to a children’s book isn’t that hard.

Amazon Prime has an Annaud film free to all members: The Lover. It stars a then 17 year old Jane March as a fictional 15 year old French girl in French Indochina, having a sexual relationship with a much older Chinese businessman. It’s the plot of the movie. It is not banned, proscribed or the center of any firestorms.

Why not?

When was that cartoon drawn?

If you want to sell books to the widest possible audience it is probably a good idea

No. Not hardly.

Just wait until Charlie Kirk finds out…

Long time ago… that doesn’t make it any less racist.

Bull feathers, you used it in the other thread.

What was the intended audience?

What’s the solution? Should Dr. Suess be forced to continue publishing these books?

Not hard at all.

No. I answered the OP’s ‘role reversal’, to show how silly it really is, given actual history.

Oh noes, wypipo and only wypipo have lost Dr Seuss! The Muppets! School Board meetings with bitter, petty comments! (I mean, seriously. Every damned school board meeting is a cavalcade of petty bickering, infighting and stupid things said. People are especially dumb ■■■■ stoopid about their children.)

This has strong Siamese cats from Lady and the Tramp vibes geez.
