What is the ChiCom End Game Here?

Are they trying to create an unfortunate accident to provoke a shooting conflict?

Or are their military leaders just plain ■■■■■■■ stupid?

They are talking themselves into acting more and more aggressively. Remember they, and only they, believe that the entire South China Sea is their territorial waters. They feel even stronger about the Taiwan straight.

Why do you assume China is at fault?

Meanwhile China accepted to meet with US officials on anniversary of Tiananmen Square massacre, June 4th…talk about major diplomatic blunder. Dumb asses.

Hundreds if not thousands were slaughtered that day.

Not assuming fault. Just watching two rivals engaging in foreplay before the coming struggle. Like a young lion sizing up an old one before making a play for leadership of the pride.

The OP.

They seriously did?

God that’s disgusting.

They’re trying to get America to trip over their own massive manhood, and watch us cry foul for scuffing our knee in their back yard.

My vote is we scuff our knees as often as possible and smile when we do.

That’s totally not meant in a bud light way.

It is always the young lion that brings the challenge for dominance.

game? they think they will not have a strong response for at least 2 years…

When a warship cuts across the bow of another (country’s) warship coming within 150 yards? In international waters?
One can assume one of a few scenarios:

  1. Ordered by someone, the ChiCom vessel like the jet that flew across the surveillance craft was done because they knew nothing was going to happen and they’ll get whatever propaganda message they want.
  2. The captain of the ChiCom vessel is a blithering idiot to put his ship and crew in a position where there could be a collision.
In either case both incidents happened in international waters and airspace. The Chinese think they have sovereignty over the Taiwan Straits. The international community disagrees.
And again they’re getting propaganda mileage knowing the US will condemn the actions, call them “unprofessional” but nothing of consequence will happen. They’ll continue their stupidity and something bad will happen and we’ll see who has the cujones.

On 34th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre.

China is hardly “the young lion.”

You have heard one side of the story. A biased side.

Given the recent history of the US Navy…

Ok. What’s the other side of the story? I’m listening.

Perhaps the US Navy intentionally provoked the Chinese.

Perhaps the US Navy made yet another mistake.

More like two aging fighters looking for one last highlight reel.

That’s a “perhaps” I’ll agree. But the incident was filmed and witnessed by the crew of a Canadian frigate participating in a joint exercise with the US vessel. The Canadians reported the US vessel maintained course, slowed to 10 knots and the ChiComs sailed 150 yards off across the bow.
I’m interested in seeing where the US Navy made a mistake.

The governing system in the US has been around for over 200 years. We achieved Global Super Power status in 1945. The CCP didn’t achieve governing power until the late 1940s. It is only now achieving GSP status. The CCP is most definitely the young lion challenging the dominance of the US.

Being in the Taiwan Strait?
