Recently an accusation was made against me; that I “never state my position.”
I do. I did in this thread. Obviously the accusation was based on wanting specific minutia, but that’s not how I operate. As an exception, I will address some small thinking here. As a liberal.
-
Any time there is a perceived conflict between individual rights and “the common good”, individual rights carry the weight. We are a republic.
-
“Public safety” is no excuse for violating rights.
-
Work arounds and playing games to further an agenda is unconscionable.
-
Although a draft would greatly benefit the vast majority of males in this country, it is involuntary servitude and should never be done again. If it isn’t worth fighting for, let it fail.
-
America First, Not Only. When we have taken care of our emergency, we can help others. Not before.
-
We are in no position to try to shape the morality of other countries.
-
Democracy is not the only form of government and probably not even the best in many places. Stop trying to force it.
-
Abortion is a moral issue. The government has no place in it.
-
Homosexual marriage was covered in 1868 by the 14th Amendment. Get over it.
-
“Better” never means better for everybody. Might want to remember that.
-
Nobody, especially pols, is as good; or bad as we want to believe.
-
Just because you didn’t get your way doesn’t mean it was racism. In fact it probably wasn’t. Most people don’t give a damn what color your skin is. They care about how your wants impact their wants. If you feel like you’re being discriminated against, look at your own culture first; are you imposing yours on theirs? That’s where the conflict arises.
-
Stop putting people over policies. You’re playing into their hands. “Charismatic leader” is a recipe for disaster.
-
Segregation is human nature.
-
I owe you nothing. If I choose to help you, it was my choice.
There’s 15. I will entertain questions for those who falsely claim I don’t take positions. I will not commit to answering every question. I choose.
Government in all it’s forms is an imposition; a necessary evil. It is not a solution. As such, we should always be reluctant to use it. Not run straight to it first.
It is a last resort because it has absolute power. Once invoked, it can’t even be controlled, much less removed from the issue.
Government doesn’t ask, it orders. And the threat of force is always there.
I am a liberal.
- Small government
- Individual rights
- Freedom over liberty
- No prior restraint
- Strict interpretation
