Guns are in fact just a tool. I think what needs to be said is that guns are a tool that make it easier to target things. That doesn’t mean they should face stiffer regulation nor does it mean that the 2nd should be infringed but it needs to be admitted. Guns are one of several tools that make targeting something or someone easier.

Do a little research on ALL the mass shooters, not just your cherry-picked examples from over 25 years ago. By the way, McVeigh wasn’t a shooter, but he was a Democrat. I recommend you start with the latest, Bobby Crimo who did the shooting in Highland Park.
Start there and work your way back, let’s say 10 years. Look at them all and then come back and talk to us.
