What happens when NY's Marxist dream turns into a nightmare?

They were shouting and generally making a nuisance of themselves. I doubt people felt the need to drop everything and run out of the shop.

As I said the headline makes it sound much more dramatic than it was.

No one was hurt, they were not smashing up and looting the place.

Idiots yes but thats about it.

The word “impede” does not mean to “drop everything and run out of the shop.”

nope. i am in jersey and commute every business day. i see NYC police officers on a daily basis. you on the other hand live in the back water country and only read biased news accounts.

living vicariously via news accounts of what is happening instead of someone who has boots on the ground.

yeah the most accurate are news accounts. lol.

Keeping the same police commissioner (so far) does not attest to the degree of morale of the force in any way. The Commissioner works at the pleasure of the Mayor. If she does not do what the Mayor wants, she will most likely be replaced. Then you can measure the effect, if any, on the morale (and/or morals) of the rank and file.

You dumbasses that think you’ll be riding the NYC transit system for free?

Don’t say you weren’t warned.

He answered the question.

The reporter points out that Mamdani does not want to take any money away from New York’s MTA (Metropolitan Transit Authority). Mamdani agrees. Then comes the question a real media would’ve been asking relentlessly and for months during the campaign: “How are you getting the $700M to make the buses free if the governor is not for raising taxes?”

Mamdani answers with “raising the corporate tax.”

The reporter points out that New York’s Democrat Gov. Hochul has said she won’t do that.

Hizzonor the mayor and the Governor of NY clearly are not on the same page.

And there is still plenty of time for the mayor elect and the governor to come to a compromise.

Thats the art of politics compromising to come up with a solution that while may not meet all your goals gets you some of you what you want.

The electorate will decide when his term is up if he has delivered enough to deserve a second term.

the NYC mayor and New York State governor rarely are.

Allan

Maybe he can cover the first year by requiring rich people to pay a large fee for an exit permit when they try to flee the city.

So, in other words, he still doesn’t know how he’ll pay for it.

Then Mamdani is a fool to think his idea would fly.

he might become a good mayor despite himself due to less corruption, it’s already guaranteed better than the Adam’s admin. Some of his ideas like attaching mental health professional to certain police calls have already been piloted in other cities like Denver with success.

Should Mamdimwit enable the city government to establish his “raising corporate tax” initiative, it will begin the exit of corporations and the jobs they provide.
But hey promises made promises kept?

It’s the ignorant people that vote for these wannabe Marxists that are the fools.

According to Trump he will make a great mayor and will be good for New York.
He obviously is a socialist for giving billions government assistance to farmers who are going bankrupt due to his taxes on everything.
Wonder who will foot the bill?
But Mamdami bad..are you disagreeing with Trump.

Is Trump your guy now? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
