Sorry to hear that. Mine wasn’t great either. I don’t have a lot of fond memories.

why ignore the black athletes? I missed your explanation for that.

So how do they do it without one of those 5.

I’d like to hear your thoughts how they get out of poverty.

They might differ from me.

Allan

Nice. Never do I hear “Maybe they see what we’re all about and come to their own conclusions as to why they don’t like us”.

yes. but its already been pointed out that that the democrats pay people to be victims and victim activists. So maybe a better test is this.

Find an unsuccessful conservative black man. I’ll wait for the libs to try to find one.

I however did.

It’s one of my five.

Goes for both white and black.

Allan

So you don’t think my decades of experience living in poverty has any relevance when discussing what poor people can do?

No. But I do suspect that the reason people are not moving to my area from the hood, is they can’t afford it.

Maybe your specific area has no affordable housing but there are plenty of places outside of city centers that do.

you are gonna get flagged for writing the truth.

I know how this thread will be summarized already.

I thought I spelled it out already with my common laborer analogy with follow-up dialog. Go back and reread. Let me know if you have specific questions regarding the arguments I made in that post.

I’ve already provided my thoughts. I would be interested in why you believe luck was responsible for your success. With my experience I made my own luck and opened my own doors.

Even here, a person’s effort is the deciding factor.

Yes, one has to be lucky enough to be born with the right genes. But that alone guarantees nothing. Some of the best and most gifted athletes will never achieve their potential greatness. Why? Because they aren’t willing to put in the time and effort it takes to hone their gifts into something that is valued by the big leagues. Others, not nearly as gifted, do achieve that greatness. How is that possible? Hard work and determination.

So luck and natural ability certainly play a role, but in the end it is each individual’s motivation and desire that seals the deal.

And that brings me to the common man. I strongly believe each of us is born with a God given talent. The challenge is for each of us to discover that talent and to exploit it. Those that work tirelessly to exploit their God given talent are more likely than not to succeed in life. Those that prefer to flip burgers for the rest of their lives, while looking for the Government to provide them with a living wage, are doomed to remain trapped in their poverty.

One of my brothers is the entrepreneurial one in the family and has helped me out immensely. Also was in the right place at the right time many times. So having a very rich relative and an amazing amount of luck.

Very little bad luck (knock wood)

Allan

I see your experience as an exception rather than the norm. Kind of like someone winning the lottery.

Not talking about a common laborer. Someone who worked as hard as you and failed. Those people do exist. It’s not just hard work and determination.

Allan

Which is total and unmitigated luck.

Allan

Not following? I’ve experienced failures in my life’s journey. Most people have. Those failures don’t end the journey.

The Democratic Party plantation is the hobgoblin of little minds.

Can you come up with something a little more substantive.
