You actually should be. Waltz was serving as the CSM of a combat arms (artillery) battalion under WARNO to deploy to a combat zone. As the battalion commander’s senior enlisted advisor, he was directly responsible, as the commander’s eyes and ears, to use his experience and training to ensure that unit was ready to deploy. And as the CSM, he was a key symbol of stability and unit cohesion for all of the personnel of that battalion. Bailing on his commander, his unit and the troops of that battalion marks him as nothing but a yellow, self-serving scumbag. A true senior NCO doesn’t abandon his unit.

This is the best description of the position of CSM “conditional” or not. Well done
