well the dems did have many, many more incumbents running in mostly blue states.
also callie had 2 dems running no reps which helped with the huge number.

Fun times these are.
I know. And I understand the context. I’ve just been thinking that if the tension between the popular vote (for the Senate, House, and White House) and the general principle of representation as expressed in the electoral college, etc., I think we’re going to have serious problems eventually. A large number of people are going to find voting useless–and thoroughly resent rule by a minority.
Well here in nj-07 know my and other like minded in the district threw out our long term Republican Congressman out on his rear end.
We had enough, and were not going to take it any longer.
We collectively threw the bum out.
There were 21 districts in America that stated exactly the same thing and we have a much more liberal congress who won’t cowtow to the bully.
As long as the voters have a say, they won’t be problems.
Allan
Here.s another fact.
Popular vote house margin
2010: R +6.8
2018: D +6.4
When the Callie votes are finally all counted it will be D +7.0
Allan
63 seats in the house and 6 in the senate.
94 repugs picked up 54 seats in the house and I think 9 seats in the senate.
Those were waves.
And what was the house. Flipping back to blue after long 8 years?
Allan
Well prior to 94 the Democrats had the hose for 40 years or so.
So it’s a win for trump that the house flipped under his watch
Allan
Did I say that?
Trump claimed it was almost a complete victory for the republicans.
Was it?
Or maybe it wasn’t so complete…
Allan
No it wasn’t…and neither did libs.
Great blue wave fizzled did it not?
Fizzled.
Lol
Two words.
Nancy peolosi.
Allan
+38
Pick ups
Allan
Let me know when you break 50 plus and half a dozen senators.
Then we can talk about the “blue wave”.
That’s true, but at least in 201, the majorities held by Democrats were much larger. It’s a lot easier to flip seats when there’s more seats to flip.
The end result, as in the actual majorities held by each party are almost mirror images of each other. About 235 seats in the House and 54 seats in the Senate.
I’d still say that 2010 was a bigger wave than 2018, but they were both waves.
It was a wave.
Trump forces defeated in the House.
Nancy takes over after 8 long years.
All legislation goes though Nancy and the dems.
No wall.
No nothing unless Nancy says so.
Reversal of fortunes for the r,s
Or can’t you see that
Allan
So 2010 wasn’t a wave since Republicans got 3 Senators in the midterms?
You’re being arbitrary.
Nope. Most of the wins came blue states with incumbents.
Well save for Montana, West Virginia, Arizona. Pennsylvania and maybe a few others.
Allan
Any Blue Wave that washes Scott Walker out to sea is big enough for me.
The guy was a conservative darling just a few short years ago. Thank you Dumpster Donnie.
