Yong-chol, who is Song-thaek’s nephew, along with his two sons, have been put to death as part of a purge.
It was reported that sources informed other executed relatives include Yong-chol’s sister Kye-sun and her husband and ambassador to Cuba, Jon Yong-jin.
It was said sons, daughters and even grandchildren of Song-thaek’s two brothers were also executed."

Because he isn’t going away. We have no way to remove him from power, especially when China is propping him up. Plus, like it or not, he has nukes. IF and this is a big if, we can tame his maniacal tendencies by letting him see the benefits of playing nice with us, ( and our allies ), the world benefits, and ( maybe ) over time, the oppression of his own people will be eased.
Trump has left the sanctions in place and China knows Trump is going to keep the pressure on Kim, and them as well with trade. It is not in China’s interest either to be antagonist with us. Time will tell how the situation resolves but things are getting done…

No the U.S has internment camps, the sole purpose of these camps in NK is to work people to death.
