The only thing about that though it was not a lie:

The only lie was from Biden, Harris and Mayorkas, that US sovereignty ends at the utterance of few magic words from a bunch of phony asylum seekers. The lie that there’s was nothing else we could do but parole millions and millions of phony asylum seekers into the country.

Regarding some of Trumps policies on the matter:

Trump let millions of asylum seekers into the country. That is a fact.

Yes it was less than Biden. That is also a fact.

Is that how you see it? To me his statement says “we made a bunch of mistakes and anyone with half a brain should have seen this defeat coming.”

When Trump won the first time I think the Dem consensus was that “the people are awful for not voting for the party.” Hopefully that won’t be the case this time and there will be more introspection.

Predictably, I am already hearing the ever-so-popular “Everyone is sexist and racist” excuse.

You mean, Republicans got not only the presidency, but the House and the Senate, too?!

From the linked article:

McKay has previously supported the Democratic Party, and endorsed Bernie Sanders for president in 2016 and 2020. However, in 2019 he said he had also joined the Democratic Socialists of America. He has been vocal about the need for climate action and signed an open letter to Joe Biden in October 2023 calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

He criticized the Democratic Party’s election strategy in a post on X earlier in the night, writing: “Who would have guessed lying about Biden’s cognitive health for 2 yrs, refusing to do an open convention for a new nominee, never mentioning public healthcare & embracing fracking, the Cheneys & a yr long slaughter of children in Gaza wouldn’t be a winning strategy?”

How could you not see it any other way. It’s a list of the far left’s grievances.

The Senate has been a foregone conclusion since Joe Manchin retired months ago.

Yup. I stopped reading when I saw the Gaza nonsense.

For a much better statement, look to representative Ritchie Torres:

I don’t buy it.

The far left had ZERO political power. Yes they had a voice on social media. But so does MTG and Boebert… the difference being that they are in power and a large majority of Trump supporter agree with them.

It’s a mixture of liberal grievances (fracking, Gaza, etc.) and legitimate mistakes (Biden’s health coverup, no open convention, etc.). You said that you hope this loss leads to introspection and a change of course within the party. What does that mean to you?

What they lack in meaningful accomplishments, they more than make up for in online engagement and media attention.

Average voters do see that stuff, and it does affect them.

“LatinX” is a good example. Now, look how many of these “LatinX” voted for Trump yesterday

I fully support Israel, but the war in Gaza hurts Dems this election season. That’s not nonsense.

A common misconception is that Gaza would(did?) cost Democrats Michigan.

I remember looking at the crosstabs of a MI poll a while ago and overwhelmingly, most respondents supported Israel. All of Michigan isn’t Dearborn, obviously.

It’s simply illogical to suggest that being tough (threated arms embargo?) on Israel would have been smart politics.

I still hold Biden responsible for a large portion of disaster.

I’m not suggesting that and I certainly wouldn’t support it. No single issue cost Dems Michigan or any other state. But Gaza is one of several issues that hurt them that they need to figure out over the next two years.

Quit hurting everyday people with your climate change initiatives, equality not equity, don’t label people as racist or misogynists simple for not supporting someone or some issue. That’s a good start.

If you are simply saying that the fact that Gaza war is happening hurt them - then yes, I agree.

But the pundit whose article you posted seemed to be implying that it would have been politically prudent for the Biden White House to reduce or drop their support of Israel. Which is demonstrably false.

I’m saying that the issue hurt them and their messaging was bad. I don’t know what the solution is, but they need to figure it out before the next election.
