If it’s not legalized by the election it will be shortly afterwards. Arizona, Florida, New York, New Jersey and Ohio will all be voting on legalization next year with Ohio being the only real question mark.
Local law enforcement isn’t arresting people for violating Federal law. That kind of makes the Federal law moot. The Federal Government doesn’t have the resources to enforce Federal laws in states unwilling to enforce them. Why do you suppose sanctuary cities/states have been around for so long? We’re not going to send the DEA door to door in all fifty states to arrest people for smoking a joint. The common sense thing at this point is to change the law.
because it’s a highly addictive destructive drug.
So is alcohol. Which is perfectly legal. So is nicotine. Which is perfectly legal. So is sugar. Which is perfectly legal.

yeah me too
wonder if she’s still “worthless” “clearly biased” and no better than a dog
such an informed position
Yeah, there is a lot more evidence of negative effects in children from sugar than there is from cannabis.
yeah i know these are just as bad as heroin.
power eye roll
yeah table sugar is just like heroin good job keep dropping the wisdom
Nothing about that gives her unsubstantiated opinion any credibility
I was asked if I was a meth user once because I wasn’t able to see a dentist for years. I drank soda. I asked the dentist if a meth user would be spending $1500 to fix damage done to his teeth or would the meth user be spending $1500 on more meth. I never got an answer to that one.
she is a phd and the director of that center
that gives her credibilty
To be fair lack of evidence isn’t evidence. I’m sure if kids were smoking weed as much as they’re eating sugar there would be plenty of negative effects.
But I agree that sugar is destructive for children and pot should be legal.
Actually it is. Cancer eats sugar. Bacteria that destroys tooth enamel also eats sugar. The human pancreas has grown larger since we first started consuming sugar as a species. Sugar is poison. It’s also prevalent in almost everything we consume. Because it’s cheap thanks to government subsidies. Like corn.
Which is all the more reason we should treat it as a health, not criminal, issue.
Certainly have killed more people. Drunk drivers. Lung cancer. Diabetes.
81,326 heroin poisonings in 2015 according to the CDC.
In 2015 , there were 10,265 fatalities in motor vehicle traffic crashes involving drivers with BACs of .08 g/dL or higher.
An estimated 154,050 Americans are expected to die from lung cancer in 2018, accounting for approximately 25 percent of all cancer deaths . The number of deaths caused by lung cancer peaked at 159,292 in 2005 and has since decreased by 6.5 percent to 148,945 in 2016.
In 2016, an estimated 1.6 million deaths were directly caused by diabetes. Another 2.2 million deaths were attributable to high blood glucose in 2012**. Almost half of all deaths attributable to high blood glucose occur before the age of 70 years.
1.6 million vs. 81,000. Which is worse?
What about the 4 PHDs who ran the study and actually provided more than an opinion
D. Mark Anderson, PhD1; Benjamin Hansen, PhD2; Daniel I. Rees, PhD3; Joseph J. Sabia, PhD4
So do all the PhD who say climate change is real have credibility? Just curious about when it’s OK to selectively give people credibility or not. I suppose only if it supports your views are they credible…
