Endorse my opponent and if i win there go your government contracts. Wink wink. By the way that works both way too. Don’t do dei at your company and see how fast the regulators come down on you.
It would be except the Washington Post pushes a left wing view in their daily reporting. One refusal to endorse isn’t enough to create the illusion of impartiality. Everyone knows the journalists hate Trump. So they have long ago lost their moderate readers. Now they are after their left leaning readers.
I don’t get why people still consider The NY Times endorsement worthy of any attention. You know they’re going to endorse the leftist candidate no matter what. Their editorial board always takes the left position on every issue, and always endorses the left candidate. Why bother listening to that echo chamber they call an editorial board?
I’d say that it’s not unfair to assume that a few decades ago, newspapers endorsements actually served a purpose. Before Internet and 24 hour news cycle and when most journalists were not completely detached from their readers there were people who actually relied on these endorsements to help them make their decison.
Now, when absolutely no one needs Washington Post to tell them how to vote, the outrage from some is simply because one media outlet won’t affirm something that they already believe to be true. In other words - insecurity. If your beliefs consistently require adoration and affirmation from everyone else, they aren’t worth much.
