not about Ukraine. It’s about making sure Russia does not win. Which we should be doing, by making sure Ukraine can defend itself.

All this war has done is exacerbate the situation NK is going to get involved now.

Bringing in North Korean brigades to fight is clearly a sign that Russia is doing just fine right? I’m curious on that spin. It’s not enough that they had to get their artillery shells from NK and drones from Iran and ballistic missiles from both, but now Russia literally needs brigades of North Koreans to fight for them in Ukraine. Seriously…
How do you spin that one? This should be fun…

The Carlson rule is that “they always accuse others of what they are doing”. My guess is that (South) Korean special forces are already fighting in Ukraine, and combat troops may soon be there as well. South Korean reports of North Korean troops provide a convenient retroactive pretext.

The reality is that Korean troops on either side are likely to be there mainly for experience/training. The alleged numbers of North Korean troops are so small that they will not affect the outcome of the war.

On the other hand, huge Ukrainian casualties and increasing losses to desertion may well end the war.

MHMMM lol

I can’t help but to wonder id NK is wanting seasoned experience combat soldiers, thus the reason for em to sending troops.

If so why?

Yonhap also reported Seoul may send military and intelligence personnel to Ukraine to analyze North Korean battlefield tactics and assist in interrogations of captured North Koreans.

My experience is that public announcements of a possible deployment of special forces only come after the forces have already been deployed for some time.

Sure but it’s guesswork until then. This is all guesswork on your part. And more importantly it’s guesswork to try to counter the very real thing that NK troops are already there.

I have seen plenty of reports and speculation but no real evidence.

Please post if you have anything more than press releases and comments by unnamed officials.

Are you talking about Tucker Carlson? I also have a Carlson rule.

Is that Trump’s plan to end the war?

It is very likely that there are North Korean troops training in Russia as part of the new security arrangements.

The Russian State Duma, the lower chamber of the parliament, has ratified a bilateral treaty with North Korea which President Vladimir Putin signed during his visit to Pyongyang in June and submitted to the chamber earlier this month.

The agreement, which was approved on Thursday, outlines the comprehensive cooperation that the two countries intend to maintain, including on national security issues. Its provisions state that neither side will enter treaties with third parties that infringe on the other’s sovereignty. In the event of an attack on one of the nations, the other vows to provide support, including with military means, as allowed by the UN Charter.

I would imagine and I don’t know it’s a trade for ballistic missile technology (or some military tech) all bad it’s escalated to this, which anyone paying attention knew it would.

Yes, “proof”. The only “proof” may be that some Russian troops are having fun trolling Ukrainians and western media.

Who are you quoting? You asked for “anything more than press releases and comments by unnamed officials.” My guess is the flag is just psychological warfare, but the prospect of NK troops in Ukraine is certainly more than vague comments by “unnamed officials.”

The VOA link above sited these sources:

South Korea will consider sending Ukraine “weapons for defense and attack,” according to the Yonhap news agency, which cited an unnamed senior presidential official on Tuesday . . .
Last week, South Korea’s intelligence agency said North Korea already has sent about 1,500 special forces to Russia to join the war in Ukraine, and it is planning to deploy a total of 12,000 troops from an elite unit.

The South Koreans have a vested interest in pushing narratives about North Koreans fighting in Ukraine, especially if South Koreans are already fighting there.

A few days ago, NATO chief Mark Rutte said that there is no evidence of North Korean troops in Ukraine.

Austin said that he could not confirm reports, but he has since changed his tune.

So your theory is that to create a pretext to sell weapons to Ukraine, South Korea is making up the story about North Korean troops? And you have no evidence that South Korean troops are fighting in Ukraine? And this entire theory is generated by your gut? Is that right?

The South Korean government’s own statements are the evidence for the presence of South Korean troops in Ukraine. The question is only whether they are already there.

My experience is that “follow the money” is a better guide to what is really going on than evidence-free reports from “experts”. You can find expert to say just about anything for the right price/incentives.

That is especially true as pretext for war. That is who we got the “WMDs” in Iraq. That is how we got the “unprovoked invasion” narrative from the same people who were involved in the provocations.
