why would we have to get in it?
they are getting block 20 mlu with aesa radar
That’s a good set up. Most of Russia’s aircraft don’t even have AESA. The MiG-31, SU-34, and SU-35 are the only planes that have semi decent radar setups since they have PESA. The rest of them are relying on Soviet sets from the 1980s.
That will reduce the workload for the pilot but I don’t know how that will help with a SEAD mission.
We already give them Harm missiles, why are you assuming we’ll cripple them in this package?
Huh? Cripple them? We sent them harm missiles? Who is shooting them?
I think they fired a few from the MiG-29 fleet using a US developed really ghetto workaround through a plug in targeting system. Or so I read. But that was a while back.
Apparently the pilot workload was intense since they were having to work a Tablet device and fly their old MiG-29s at the same time.
They are, they adapted them for use with MIG29 or SU24. They don’t have all the capability they would, but they work
They are launching them from the Migs in the same manner you described for an A-10 using them.
The RIO or WSO isn’t a glorified job, but it has to be a God send on planes where you’re having to integrate aftermarket systems. That’s a lot of work on an A-10 or MiG-29 pilot.
How many SU-24s do they have left flying at this point? I don’t think Ukraine inherited that many and I’m sure some of them have been lost to S-400s by now.
I would suspect that the general area of the targeting radar for those systems is being determined by an airborne ELINT system and then missions are planned around preprogrammed attack vectors and predetermined launch points.
It is reported they currently have 271 aircraft including 43 MIG 29, 26 SU 27, 16 SU 25’s and 12 SU 24’s.
That’s actually not a bad line up. It’s not like Russia’s lineup is that much better. The majority of their Fulcrums and Flankers are grounded due to frame fatigue and they consistently fail to put them back in service. The SU-34 and SU-35S are being protected like little children at a public park because of how much they cost. And the MiG-31 is doing its job but they are eating their airframe lives fast.
And the Felon might as well be a myth at this point.
almost forgot 5 F-16’s (with a total of 65 pledged) and maybe more. Also they may get 41 F-18’s from Australia.
That’s a good set up honestly. There’s a reason so many countries standardized on those two.
What could possibly go wrong with this plan?
Zelenski won’t negotiate because if the war ends, he loses power. He must really hate his own people to get so many killed.
Russia is taking ground consistently … The pace is increasing! Spear head and cauldron over and over. Just took Vuhledar. A " fortress town"…
