Why are you so convinced of that?

The Republican Party is not unified in regards to Ukraine. Yes the anti-Ukraine faction is a thing and they are loud, but they are not the majority.

The party is fractured over this issue. The Dems can make a deal with the pro-Ukraine faction. In fact that is likely to happen.

It won’t.

Hamstert rule.

The speaker doesn’t have to abide by the rule.

But I understand your point. It really depends on the whim of the Republican speaker.

anti ukraine faction?

you guys are deluding yourselves. the only thing the most boisterous asked for was to assign an ig to watch the spending. i agree with that.

Because it’s typical of their brand circa 2022-23. As @margaretms2 said in another thread, they have no interest in governance anymore; only in dropping cinderblocks off overpasses and blaming the resultant chaos on the Dems

Do? Let?

How is this my problem?

I don’t know the future. I’ve got my biases. I’d love to be wrong. But the GOP base is the primary force in the party. The good news is that if their majority is kept super-narrow, they won’t have the votes to bail.

Meanwhile in Ukraine a Russian fighter released an air to air missile in the near vicinity of a UK RC-135. The fighter had been shadowing the EW Recon Plane. The missile wasn’t locked on and didn’t come near hitting the aircraft. The Brits complained to the Russians and now NATO fighters will escort these recon aircraft. Russia claims a mechanical error caused the release of the missile.

Russian fighter jet ‘released a missile’ near unarmed British surveillance plane, U.K. defense secretary says

I saw a news article about that, when I read that Russia said “it came off of the aircraft accidentally and they are investigating electrical faults” I said to myself ■■■■■■■■■■■

I first read about the incident on my lunch break. That article said the plane had passed through Ukranian airspace, then out over the Black Sea. I couldn’t find that part of the article when I got home and went to post it.

The possibility of spending cuts on Ukraine is quite real with a GOP House. That’s why it looks like the Congress and Biden will try to pass a quite large bill of 50 billion dollars before Jan 20 2023 to make sure Ukraine is well defended through next year.

I’m hearing Fred Thompson in my head (Hunt for Red October) saying “This business will get out of control…”

About 3 days ago the Russians started saying Ukraine was going to blow up the largest dam and flood the region so they can start an offensive.

Today I wake up and Ukraine is saying Russia is going to false flag blowing up the same dam.

Very scary… Peace!

There would be literally no reason for Ukraine to blow the dam. It will flood up to 80 Ukrainian settlements including Kherson as well as reduce water supply to the nuke plant leading to the possibility of a core meltdown.

The only reason Ukraine would do it is to cut water to Crimea. But if they retake the area they just have to shut off the tap, not blow the dam, flood the area and kill thousands of Ukrainian civilians downstream.

Whoa…

….

The volume of water in the reservoir is about equal to the Great Salt Lake in the U.S. state of Utah.

It would put Russia’s artillery our of range of Ukraines armor for the offensive for about 3 days. Peace…!

Remember when the left was not Ultra-Globalist and Neocon?

They talked like this in those days…

Peace!

Why do I get the distinct impression that if your posts from 2014 would be uncovered, we would find where you were lambasting Obama for his weak response to the Russians grabbing Crimea, where you are now holding him up as a hero for recognizing that “Ukraine is Russia’s vital interest, but not ours”?

We know Trump mocked him for it.

“President Obama lost Crimea because President Putin didn’t respect President Obama, didn’t respect our country, and didn’t respect Ukraine,” he said.

Clare Daly is not someone to listen to.
