It’s the new point being pushed. That this is now terrorism and will be treated somehow differently
. They are trying to change the name to anti terrorist operation
it is a terrorist campaign, against the russian terrorist army

Yes this is a deliberate confusion over the terms “terrorism” and “military attack”.
An act of terror is an attack, usually on civilians, with the goal of causing unrest in the population and disassociation from their government and its causes.
A military attack is an attack on military units, supplies or infrastructure with the goal of degrading the opponent’s military capabilities.
The bridge was a legit target. Crimea is not completely cut off from the mainland, but it will be more difficult for Russian equipment and supplies to come from Crimea to the mainland.
Bill, please stop pretending you are being objective. You’re not. I don’t know what your motivations are, but you are absolutely not being objective.

Sort of.
According to the Geneva conventions (which has been signed by almost every country,) combatants must carry their arms openly and wear a uniform or insignia that he is a combatant.
(In WW2 the French resistance use to put on armbands when carrying out raids.)
That is done for two reasons
- To protect civilian non-combatants from acts of war. (Civilians cannot be deliberately targeted.)
- It protects the soldiers in case of capture. If they do those two things they must be treated as POWs not as “illegal combatants.”
Thus when Iraqis, Afghanis etc. did not comply, once they were captured, the US was 100% free to send them to GITMO and would also be100% free to hold them for decades after the war is over. (Bush was right the Libs were wrong.)
that applies to combatants on a battle field, not covert operatives. you don’t actually believe the geneva conventions outlaw covert operations do you?

I have not read them since the Iraq war, but I recall they have specific provisions for spies, saboteurs etc… Spies, saboteurs etc., are (like illegal combatants) not granted the same rights as POWs. They can be sent to GITMO. They can be held in prison after the war is over.
being held till the war is over is what POW’s are entitled to. being sent to gitmo has no bearing on status. the difference beween them is a POW cannot be tried for crimes except war crimes or crimes committed in captivity, spies can be tried so long as they are captured before they make it back to their side of the “line”. Once they do, they cannot be charged or tried, even if captured later. this of course gets fudged a little in an occupation of a defeated nation (iraq) as there are no “lines”. Ukraine has lines.
o, and after the war is over continued detention is only permissible after a “fair” trial

You are correct, but in my defense I was attempting to use Gitmo as an image (a metaphor?) Apparently I failed.

The bomb damaged one of the two spans for vehicular traffic. The other span and a train bridge were not seriously damaged. In addition, Russia has a land route to Crimea through Donbass, so the effect of the explosion is mainly as propaganda.
The truck driver exploded with the truck. The explosion was either a suicide attack, or the driver was a patsy and the bomb was exploded remotely.
https://nypost.com/2022/10/08/russian-man-named-as-owner-of-the-truck-involved-in-crimea-bridge-blast/
According to some reports the truck driver is from Azerbaijan, which would mean he was most likely an innocent victim with no direct interest in the war. In addition to the driver, at least two civilians were killed in the attack.
The US State Department has issued condemnations of similar attacks in the past even when they involved military targets.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has issued a new stamp celebrating the attack.
At one point the US waged a war on terrorism. Now we are waging a war of terrorism.

Bill, the usa bombed two cities in Japan with nukes and then told the storythat it was for the good.
Colonialists took over southeast asia and china and imposed westernism on those people. They destroyed asian culture with corrupt western values.
Heaven snd Earth Changed places.
We also saw it when guns and alcohol won the western united states and created indian boarding schools and destroyed treaties.
so what? nobody gives a ■■■■ what the state department said. and they care even less about what moscow said

I have yet to see the US or its allies issuing any condemnation of the terrorist attack. At least one NATO member has congratulated Ukraine on the explosion.
A likely response will be a Russian offensive that results in the total destruction of Ukraine.
Biden’s rants about Armageddon and claims that Putin is cornered and looking for an off-ramp are most likely a form of projection. Biden ordered the end of the Nord Stream pipelines, but the attackers actually left one line operational. Will there be a second attack from the gang who can’t shoot straight?
Biden tried to bully Saudi Arabia into increasing output. They flipped him the finger.
The economic outlook for Europe is dismal. Natural gas prices are already at record levels and severe shortages are likely unless there is record warmth this winter. Unfortunately, the forecast is for a cold winter; where is Global Warming when you need it?
Biden realizes that Ukraine is not going to win a conventional war. Elements in Washington and Kiev are desperately trying to provoke WW3. Does Biden have an off-ramp? Is he even capable of recognizing one if he saw it?

that water has got to be getting heavy.

Yes, no one in western media is bothering to mention the obvious. A US puppet-state is responsible for a terrorist truck-bomb attack. If the Muslim driver had attacked a bridge in western Europe, it would be immediately labeled as a suicide bombing.
In this case, it is likely that the driver’s death was not a suicide, and Ukraine is taking terrorism to a new level. They may well have planted a bomb on the truck and triggered the explosion remotely. Even ISIS has not achieved that level of sophistication and deceit.
