We claim the right to occupy Syria because we don’t like the Syrian government in Damascus, and the Syrian oil fields provide huge profits for the right humans.

Serbia lost control over Kosovo as result of war and referendums. The same thing is happening in Ukraine.

NATO intervened in a civil war in Serbia to remove Belgrade’s control over Kosovo.

Russia is intervening in a civil war in Ukraine to remove Kiev’s control over Novorossiya.

What goes around comes around.

Novorossiya existed as separate region within the Russian empire. The Soviets incorporated it into the Ukrainian SSR in 1922.

You forgot to mention that Putin ordered no military aged men were allowed to leave…after a huge number did immediately after he announced the call-up. Oh ane before you try to equate it to Ukraine doing the same, remind us which country invaded another?

Looks like mobilization is mainly centered away from Moscow and St. Petersburg which are more dangerous in terms of any possible uprising. So just grab the poor folk from the Far East for cannon fodder.

If you go back far enough, there are very few people alive today who don’t live in an area that was taken by force from a people who lived there before and in many instances, there are several iterations of said takings.
