Violent extremists refer to Azov and similar neo-Nazi organizations, not the regular army. They represent a tiny fraction of the Ukrainian population but they received a large portion of NATO military aid and training. They were responsible for the 2014 coup. They were responsible for sabotaging the 2015 peace agreement.

NATO sure as hell involved.
NATO special forces are in Ukraine and are coordinating the fighting and targeting of weapons. Large numbers of mercenaries and “contractors” from NATO countries are fighting as well. The whole war is paid for by the US government.
According to Ukrainian sources, Boris Johnson killed a peace agreement back in April with the support of Washington. Every Ukrainian and Russian death since then is arguably a direct result of Johnson’s actions.
Here are links to the reports in English and the original Ukrainian.

This is NATO’s proxy war. Ukrainians are just the cannon fodder.
oohhh, according to “sources”.

Nonsense, every death is inarguably the fault of Putin. This is Putin’s war.
Biden based his whole campaign on using the fine-people hoax to smear his political opponents.
Now it is “Nazis-Schmazis who cares about Nazis” when it comes to neo-Nazi paramilitary groups that his administration is funding in Ukraine. So long as their veins don’t bulge, everything is cool.

It seems that the West is about to step up the arming of Ukraine even more. The first new toy will be Slovenia’s T55S tanks. Now the T-55 is a 70 year old Russian tank design. But these are not Stalin’s T-55. Basically they are the hull of a T-55 with a new engine, turrent, main gun and optics and armor. Based on the description of its upgrades this tank is comparable to a US M-60A3, with the lower profile of a T-55. It has the same British designed 105 mm main gun that the A3, and the original M-1, was equipped with. It has comparable modern fire control optics that allow it to shoot on the move. It has reactive armor and a modern 600 HP diesel power pack. That 105 mm is compatible with NATO 105 mm SABOT and HEAT anti-tank ammunition. I am guessing those optics include passive thermal capabilities. There is a good chance that this tank can target and engage accurately at a farther range than the T-62s, T64s and T-72s The Russians are pulling out of reserve stocks to make up losses.

The hull was a solid, easily maintained design. But the turrent, it’s gun and optics are the real teeth of any tank. That 105 mm SABOT round is very, very effective.

Yes, I’m sure there are extremists within their armed forces. But that does not mean that we (and other NATO countries) are, as you said, " arming violent extremists in Ukraine was to provoke a war with Russia."

Involved does not mean engaged.
with putin threatening nuclear war if its “invaded” and medvedev declaring once the referenda are over donbas, zep and kherson will be “russia”, russia has just pulled the nuclear blackmail card.
it is past time to give ukraine what it needs to expel the russians from ukraine.
give them the jets, helo’s, tanks, ada, and longer range missiles they asked for 5 months ago. if we gave them to them then, this war would be over.

Primarily yes.
Biden energy policy and diplomacy fail got blood on his hands also.
It takes a global village.
Partial mobilization of reserves announced.
It will be like the opening scene of Enemy At The Gates
Putin has announced the call up of some reservists to go to Ukraine.
The Special Military Operation has involved an alliance between the Russian military and the militias of the Lugansk and the Donetsk People’s Republics. While not widely reported in western media, militias have been the bulk of the forces fighting on the Russian side in Donbass.
Assuming that the announced referendums go forward and result in annexation, the Special Military Operation will logically come to an end since the militias will become part of the Russian military. The name change does not necessarily imply a significant change in the fighting, but it means that Russian military leadership in Moscow will be free to act without consulting with allied militia units.
Ironically the process for the referendums and separation from Ukraine is based on the process that NATO developed for Kosovo. For a detailed discussion on the referendums and related issues see:

I rmember that one.
He spoke about inflation like a learned individual, (framed it as money supply, printing money to pay debts etc…) He got the economic science a bit twisted but he was using the basic science.
I remember thinking at the time he made Joe Biden’s “corporate greed” theory of inflation sound like someone who doesn’t believe in evolution saying “animals are that way because they came off the Noah’s ark that way.”

The Russians committed 175,000 soldiers, of their standing army, to this. We all watched the build up and massing of Russian regular forces on the Ukrainian border. Since then they have added at least 2 additional corps to the fight. Those militias number only in the 10s of thousands.
