Is there an echo in here? … in here? … in here?

I don’t know if this guy is credible, but he has 113,000 twitter followers including two notables, so . . . maybe

Yeah I think it actually is a problem. My guess is that Ukraine will finish their work of recapturing Izyum and Kupyansk and then consolidate and deal with all the POWs. I’m guessing none of those Russian boys wanted to be there. Its hard to feel sorry for them after this war but many of them were conscripted off the street or told they would be shot if they didn’t take part.

Now the fear of Russia using tactical nukes rather than lose is coming up again.

Meh they’ve played that song and dance so long its become a joke. Could they? Sure. Will they? No.

The much likelier odds are that if Ukraine continues to roll forward, Putin and his regime will be toppled. Thats much more likely than shooting off nukes.

I will say that Ukraine entering the Crimea will be a very hard pill for Russia/Putin to swallow. That will be the defining and most dangerous moment in this extraordinary debacle.

Saw that after I posted and was like DRATS I’m way late to the party.

But seriously, where’s Bill.

well the russian general in charge of this area was captured… so at least that one. he’ll be charged with war crimes

russian soldiers are not going to fight to “save Illyum”.

if they take crimea, putin is toast

ergo: putin is toast

its why from the beginning i said the offensive should have been directed at Melitipol. if they take illyum… can they hold it against the russians who can pour down from the north? if they take kherson can they hold it against russian reenforcements pouring in through crimea?

if they took melitipol they could head for sevastipol, and if putin survived that there would only be one front left in the war instead of two.

Speaking of nuclear …The CBS Evening News tonight said external power (which keeps the cooling system running) to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has been cut off and that Russia has been shelling the site. Has Ukraine retaken that plant?

Things continue to move fast. Any Russian forces not killed or surrendered have left Izyum. Update- Izyum under complete Ukrainian control. Now there are reports that Russians are being pushed out of Vovchansk right on the border of Russia and that Ukrainian forces are rolling east and south at a rapid clip. There is fierce fighting at the Russian occupied city of Donetsk. The Russian forces do not seem to be able to create a new defensive line and Ukraine appears to have free rein to retake a lot of territory.

Nevermind, cant link it

Yeah Zaporizhzhia is a serious worry. It is under Ukraine control but Russia is shelling the area including the electrical grid that supplies it with power. Without power the plant could melt down but they do have back up generators.

The hope is that this Ukrainian blitz in the East could stretch to that area and push the nearby Russians and their artillery out.

Joe Biden threatened American Citizens with that very same thing.

By the way- if anyone wants to follow along in real time during this massive collapse of Russian forces, here is a good link…

Now Ukraine has arrived at Lysychansk- one of the main cities in the Donbas. It took a 1000 Russian lives and a month of fierce fighting to take this city in July. In just a few days Ukraine is reversing much of Russias hard fought gains. Well I was wrong about consolidating gains after Izyum and Kupyansk. Ukraine is just rolling.
