Okay. Like I said, interesting. Personally, I am torn. On the one hand, if a country tells you of a red line, you should believe them.

But on the other hand, we aren’t obligated to knuckle under to tyrants.

Thanks

no, it was the intel we had at the time. nobody lied

whether or not a country joins nato isn’t up to russia. nothing russia says should even be considered.

will adding their defenses enhance nato’s defense. thats the main consideration.

Well, I disagree. Whole books have been written about the lie. But this is not the thread topic, so let us agree to disagree

Those are very high stakes. But I take your point. We can’t allow our concern about war allow Russia to dictate our foreign policy.

But we should at least keep it in mind

if by keep in mind you mean be prepared for their reaction… yes, always

if you mean influence our action… no, never.

Agreed👍

how does Russia still not have air superiority.

they don’t know how, apparently they didn’t take notes

The Ukrainians are using an old trick called a SAM trap They deploy ADA systems to create a cross fire, then their pilots go up, appear to engage, then flee towards the crossfire ambush. Inexperienced Russians give chase and fly into the teeth of the ADA systems.

And he worries about NATO’s dreams.

What does NATO dream about? Peace on the European continent? Why would that worry Putin?

What does… want?

Power, repressive societies that control their own people? All dreaming of peace and money and power.

Not following you there …

Europe has frequently had tyrants with lust for power.

NATO is not a Country.

And how many “dreams” does NATO have?

That was my question to you.

Europe tends to always erupt into power grabs and schisms. Each country plays musical chairs for sole power. Today there are other powers at work.

NATO is literally a military organizational chart.
it has no control over member states.
