There are reports the military has been demoralized and is low on the influence hierarchy in Russia as Putin has consolidated his power.

There might be no mechanism for them to challenge Putin.

That was his goal because otherwise putch could have happened. He also gave them a lot of money but now that they money si dried up. Could be something but you are more than likely right

Unfortunate but true.

All signs point to that “liberal world order” being beaten down by reactionary forces, not rising up again.

Yea he had a heart problem alright…it stopped beating would be my bet.

So it looks like an effective counterattack, maybe? Props

Looks like Putin achieved his long stated desire to get Finland to join NATO.

In a month…crazytown.

“NATO estimates that up to 40,000 Russian troops have been killed, injured, captured or gone missing during the first month of the Kremlin’s war, an alliance official confirmed to NBC News.”

I am worried that he has Generals in a position that would pull the trigger. I have some faith that his folks are smart enough to not carry out his order and do a military coup. I heard a former US General say that he was talking to his Russian counterpart who he has remained friends with. He asked him if he thought Putin was getting honest and correct information. And the guy said that he believed that his Generals would rather shot him in the head instead of giving him the correct information.

Let’s hope he is right because at this point I fear he will use some sort of WMD. I would like to see more diplomatic talks, what get’s me worried are the severity of the sanctions. I understand them at the same time countries in the past viewed them as war itself Japan comes to mind.

One thing that Putin can not hide is tens of thousands of bodies. I heard that the officers on the ground took away all of the cell phones from the Russian solders. Many were calling home telling their stories of how long and hard and unfair this whole deal is. And I am now hearing that the propaganda wall that Putin has built is starting to show cracks. I am sorry to see the Russian people suffer. But they have to understand that this is all Putin’s fault.

I don’t know how much control he personally has over WMD’s but I can unfortunately see a situation to were out of desperation or to save face in a cruel way he does it. Some say maybe a nuclear test in the black sea. Others say something more scary a 2-3 kiloton tactical nuke.

I doubt the average Russian is doing anything other than hating the fact there life is being slammed by the sanctions. Especially the rubble, their purchasing power is gone. There internets blocked and they are getting a steady dose of the west is doing this to you. From what I have read Putin has an inner circle of elites and high military that run the whole show. He might just have the power to do something utterly ■■■■■■ up at a whim if he chooses…

I agree that it is a scary time and the US, EU and NATO are walking a fine line here. I am glad to hear that if Putin unleashes a nuke, chem or bio weapon that NATO will be forced to consider direct strike options.
Like I said, I hope that level heads at the top in Russia will consider that the good of the country comes first and not the off the rails personal desires of a kook. And I hope that there is a whole bunch of countries close to Russia who will want to join NATO. I want to see this whole thing blow up in Putin’s face.

I want the whole thing to deescalate. I could care less about what Ukraine or Russia was doing up until I heard the words “To anyone who would consider interfering from the outside - if you do, you will face consequences greater than any you have faced in history.”

Probably just a bluff at the same time in the end only Putin and at most a handful of people around him know how far he is willing to go.

I take every report with a grain of salt.

It does appear that the tide is shifting in favor of the defenders.

Let us hope that gets Russia to the negotiating table in good faith.

By NO account can the last week of military activity be considered good for the Russian invaders.

Here is some footage…

All Russia has left is cruel civilian bombings while the Ukrainians terrorize their military with endless ambushes.

A cornered rat has a few more bites left in him. I still predict that Putin will unleash chem weapons…and soon. The dude has got to be beyond grumpy about this.

Medvedev issues another (not so) subtle nuclear threat.
