Moex went down 37%. Sanctions coming in from Europe, US, Australia, Korea, and Japan.
I don’t understand how Putin and the Oligarchs think their economy would be ok? Will they recover by dealing mostly with China and India?
Sometimes nationalism, pride, and ego outstrips economic sanity.
And there is no one to replace installed Biden. Kamala is a no experience kook and Nancy is insane and that’s line of presidential succession.
Our Military leadership under MIlley proved they have no idea what to do or how to lead as Afghanistan proved. They lost to the taliban, so…

Ya this is much better than a resolution saying Ukraine will remain neutral and not join NATO.

It will be if he brings high tech to the task. You can lock a country down pretty tightly with surveillance and AI. Fairly sure Ukraine already has the infrastructure to support it, ie good internet.
Or party loyalty… Trump was a great president and this would not have happened.
The EU attacked Russia? How?
Ukraine is a sovereign nation. Russia attacked them. Not the other way around.

What’s the end game here? Does Russia think it can just occupy Ukraine for ever? That’s just wild.
install a Russian military backed dictator just like before 2014.

“But the historical record shows that Washington has meddled in the political affairs of dozens of countries—including many democracies. An egregious example occurred in Ukraine during the Euromaidan Revolution of 2014.”
“The extent of the Obama administration’s meddling in Ukraine’s politics was breathtaking.”

Probably betting they need his energy more than those sanctions and won’t keep them in place for long. At least for the EU, see how long their resolve lasts if he cuts them off.

Does not sound nothing to me.
EU need to freeze every Russian asset over 5 million both private and government.
I agree.
If they elect to do so, I do think the US and Canada should increase their force levels in Europe.
If they don’t, I don’t support leaving the alliance but I wouldn’t support us increasing our troop contribution above what it is now.
In the end, the majority of forces numerically speaking should be German, French, and then British. Along with the national militaries of the border countries. American and Canadians after that.
Europeans as a whole (and Germans in particular) are gonna have to get over Germany’s history in the two World Wars. German troops should be the largest contingent. They are the largest economy in Europe. Their manpower is key. They should be taking the leadership role for the defense of Europe.
The Bundeswehr needs to expand to twice its current size at minimum. I would prefer to see the Bundeswehr at three times it’s current size.
