You know I have though about that few times. That’s one of reason why I believe their are hardliners in his government pushing it…if Ukraine falls into NATO/EU hands they would have his head on pike.

Hell even Zelensky thinks we are sacrificing Ukraine.

We are giving them a thousand times more aid than we’ve ever given a Near Abroad country ever and we’re risking nuclear war doing that.

Don’t forget, we’re America, baby. We incited the Hungarians, the Czechs and the Polish to revolt against the Soviets with promises of help and then stood by while they were massacred.

And it is time for…Meanwhile in Ukraine

No big changes around Kiev. The 40 mile convoy is still stopped and bunched up with no sign of action, other than continued shelling of Kiev. Probably massing logistics for the next push and allowing the Ukrainian logistics situation to further degrade.

In the South East things are definitely looking worse for Ukrainian forces and the general population. There are signs that Ukrainian forces are falling back after the fall of Kherson, with Russian forces moving to encircle Odessa.

In the central Eastern region the situation in Mariupol is critical, with efforts to seek safe passage out of the city for non-combatants. So far no luck as the Russians don’t appear to be honoring any safe passage efforts. The nuclear power plant seized turns out to be a significant strategic target. It supplies 25% of Ukraine’s electricity. And the damaged buildings were not reactor buildings. Russian forces are also closing on another nuclear power station in the same region. They may soon control a third, or more, of Ukraine’s power generation. It is also looking like Russian Forces will achieve control of all Ukrainian territory between Crimea and the Russian border to the North, linking their Southern and central forces.

In the North East, Kharkiv is under siege and daily bombardment. The logistics situation for both the Ukrainian forces, and the civilian population, are now becoming dire.

People were so concerned about a nuclear catastrophe they didn’t even consider the simple and straight forward strategy of control of power generation. Seems obvious in retrospect.

Exactly. Biden made it clear to Putin that our power grid was critical (strategic) infrastructure. It is a simple strategy. Encircle a chunk of territory, cut the power, especially during winter, allow the trapped forces and civilians to freeze and starve, under heavy bombardment, while their munitions are depleted by unrelenting probing attacks. Make sure the rest of the country sees it for psychological effect, sapping the will of the soldiers and people to keep fighting.

The military and surveillance interests in the US lost their cash cow in Afghanistan. It makes sense that they are looking for a replacement in Ukraine.

That would explain the push for NATO membership to provoke a war in Ukraine. A festering guerilla war in Ukraine could be great source renew.

You do realize that invading a neighboring country is already a war, don’t you? Nobody is “starting” a war. It was already started by Putin. Most people are talking about aiding the victims.

Usually when that happens, it’s evidence of elaborate rhetorical fortifications to hide the weaknesses of the argument.
