Gay people don’t have to support Trans people, and quite often do not. Feminists for the most part do not like Trans people. Trans people can almost be seen as anti-gay, in a way. Let’s say you are a mannish woman who is attracted to other women.
The correct response would be “Well, I guess I am gay”.
The incorrect response would be “Well, I guess I must secretly be a man and should cut my breasts off and go on hormones so I can date women and NOT be gay”.
Some people take offense to that.
Now, if someone wants to be trans, have at it. But there are going to be some limitations with that choice. If you are a trans woman, don’t expect lesbians to want to date you, they want to date other women and you still have a penis. Find a private place to change at the gym, or just change when you get home. Exercise and have fun at sports, but you can’t compete against women when you were born a man and not expect folks to get upset.

For the record, there needs to be separate accommodations in locker rooms for trans and they should not compete against biological females in competitive sports.

That’s exactly how I feel! We’re allies in the fight to stop erasing women! Welcome aboard. Ignoring issues never solves them. And this needs to be solved.

My wife has two nieces, one lesbian and one who transitioned. At family get togethers no one is discussing LGBTQIA+ issues, they are just part of the family as are their girlfriend and boyfriend. This forum is far more obsessed with these issues than families who are part of the LGBTQIA community.
While this is aside from the perpetual outrage the Right seems to have over a very small population, there is solid debate in the Gay and Liberal community about how Trans rights seem to step on rights won by women and the Gay community. You have avid feminists like JK Rowling getting all kinds of shade from the Harry Potter actors because she doesn’t think women’s rights apply to Trans females. (TERFs, I think they call these activists)
Women have won the right to compete in sports and have the NCAA fund them, so when biologically born men compete against them, it is a concern for many. Most of these Trans females kind of stink at sports and still lose, but that is beside the point.
And Lesbians get the worst of it, if they don’t want to date a Trans female they are accused of being transphobic. Same as straight men, if they don’t want to date a Trans female they are seen as bigots.
I do think gender dysphoria is real, and I think transitioning is something that can really help. But imagining or avowing that a Trans female is a woman in every sense of the word isn’t accurate and isn’t helpful. They are unique, they have unique needs, but they don’t need fantasy. Life is going to be hard enough dealing with the reality they live in every day, but with some compassion and realistic mindsets, they can live a life that is meaningful and truthful not only to them, but with those they care about.
Increasing push for “tolerance” is a key characteristic of the woke “left”.
Once the rubber band gets stretched to far, the woke right reactionaries snap back way to far. Same thing as with the deportations.
It’s out of fear, but they lose their minds. A humanity.
