Isn’t that normal? I worked for a great corporation(40 years) but our raises were just a shade under cost of living usually.

Still my pay went from about 3 dollars an hour to over 33 dollars an hour when I retired.

That was good pay.

No, getting a raise that is under cost of living/inflation is not normal or good. It literally means your pay is becoming less valuable.

If your raise is less than the increases in the cost of living, then it sounds like your got paid pretty well when you began working for your corporation. Even though your pay hasn’t kept up with inflation, you still feel you were being well paid at the end.

Rising costs due to tariffs inflation and the rising cost of borrowing to combat inflation are going to eat up gains.

Again why people love the boom bust cycles versus steady growth is beyond me.
