Isn’t that normal? I worked for a great corporation(40 years) but our raises were just a shade under cost of living usually.

Still my pay went from about 3 dollars an hour to over 33 dollars an hour when I retired.

That was good pay.

No, getting a raise that is under cost of living/inflation is not normal or good. It literally means your pay is becoming less valuable.

No, getting a raise that is under cost of living/inflation is not normal or good. It literally means your pay is becoming less valuable.

If your raise is less than the increases in the cost of living, then it sounds like your got paid pretty well when you began working for your corporation. Even though your pay hasn’t kept up with inflation, you still feel you were being well paid at the end.

There was a real estate boom and then bust… Caused by the govt working with banks to get poor people loans they couldn’t afford and to spread the risk in MBS’s. Stupid and arrogant people did that on both sides.

Yeah well most of those jobs didn’t really require a degree to begin with. It was just a tool for HR reps either too lazy or just plain ignorant of what was required to actually screen their candidates based on their qualifications.
