How did newsweek figure out who the soldiers were?

did they know trump was going to publish it? Because photos aren’t the problem. The publication is the problem.
Why did you say they should not have stepped in for a photo if it was not meant as criticism of the seals. What was the intent?

I thin it’s funny that you think soldiers should know better than the POTUS.
The desperate attempts by Trump supporters to cloak the stupidity of Le Donald are hilarious.

How, from just the twitter photo, could they tell who they were?

Ask them. The real question is, if it creates a security risk, why did they publish it?

"President Trump’s signing of “Make America Great Again” hats during his whirlwind trip to visit troops in Iraq didn’t violate regulations prohibiting a mix of political and military activities, The United States Air Force in Europe says.
… For the Air Force, the governing regulation is AFI 51-902, Political Activities by Members of the U.S. Air Force .
But it includes no specific mention of incidents like Trump’s impromptu hat-signing, according to Military.com. Nor is their any indication any of the regulation applies to a sitting president and commander in chief.
“There is no rule against Airmen bringing personal items to be signed by the president,” USAFE said. “Any time the commander in chief offers the opportunity to meet with Airmen, such as this official holiday visit by the President and First Lady, Airmen are welcome to participate. No policy violations have been brought to our attention at this time.”

The level of ignorance shown is this thread boggles the mind.
Being a Chaplain is not a secret agent.
General rule of thumb - units are not covert, missions are.
That SEAL Team 5 (or even 6) exists is not a state secret. Soldiers are responsible for OPSEC, so yes, if you aren’t supposed to have your picture taken, you don’t go where the POTUS is.
Look at the picture in the OP. What do you see?
Who is Saul Loeb and what does AFP stand for?
Signing a ■■■■■■■ cap is not a crime. What Obama is doing in the picture Hughes posted is technically defacing government property - try making that stick.
You people got played by the worst person to ever hold the office and you’re grasping at any straw you can to try to save one of your two faces.
Do better.

The thread/article title is a lie. There is nothing covert about SEAL Team 5’s deployment to Iraq. They didn’t hang glide in there in the middle of the night. And what’s the mission? Could they be training indig?
I watched that video twice. Somebody that believes that bull ■■■■ point out a single SEAL in it. Take a still and let’s see it.
The only person identified as a SEAL in this entire ■■■■ show is the Chaplain - WHO IDENTIFIED HIMSELF AND POSED FOR THE PICTURE. Now it is entirely possible he isn’t the “chaplain” and was messing with Trump, but that’s a little hard to believe even for a SEAL.
And even if he was, it doesn’t change the fact that he posed for the picture.
“OMO! They could use facial recognition software on TWEETER!!!”

That’s it?
Montana has 3 electoral votes.
Trump is the worst person, not the worst President.
Oh I could list more like Oklahoma, the Dakota, most of what is south of the Mason Dixon line but Texas…yup those Texans got nice and fooled by the fancy new Yorker who told em everything they wanted to hear.
And yes I said the worst person to hold office in the first 3 words.
