The Trump administration unveiled a series of new regulations regarding Vaping products sold across the United States Thursday; announcing tightened rules on a product many believe targets teenagers.
The Food and Drug Administration will prohibit the sale of fruit, sweetened, or mint flavored vaping products from gas stations, retail outlets, and convenience stores in all 50 states. Tobacco and Menthol-flavors remain available.
Experts claim the sweetened varieties directly appeal to young Americans, many of whom view the product as a “healthier alternative” to traditional cigarettes.
“The decision comes after news from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that another person died of what appears to be a vaping-related respiratory disease. CDC research has associated vaping products that contained THC — or tetrahydrocannabinol, which is the active chemical in marijuana that causes a ‘high’ — with the cases of lung-related illnesses,” reports Fox News.
