Where did the easily debunked BS about her marrying her brother to become a US citizen come from? It’s a lie spread by some in the right-wing media to smear a person they don’t agree with politically. She is their perfect target. A Muslim woman of color born outside of the US.
She arrived in the US at the age of 12 with her family after living in a refugee camp in Kenya for 4 years. She became a naturalized US citizen at the age of 17 in the year 2000. She married for the first time at the age of 19, 7 years after she arrived in the US and 2 years after she became a US citizen. Her first marriage had nothing to do with her getting citizen ship unless she practiced some neat time travelling trick.
It should also be obvious now that marrying a US citizen does not give a non-citizen an easy path to citizenship. As we have heard of many non-citizens being deported who were married to US citizens.
I guess I mis-understood the premise. The belief is she was a citizen when she married her brother who wasn’t. At least the timeline works, but it’s still a smear campaign.

You don’t have to prove your innocent in the US unless you are a Republican, or your last name is Trump, or you’ve disagreed with any of the propaganda the left spews.
Personally, if I was being accused of marrying a sibling, I would be eager to prove the accusations incorrect.

Lying on a citizenship application is an administrative violation. No finding of guilt or innocence by a jury. Either she lied or she did not. If she lied, she is guilty. Period.
