US pulls out of nuclear treaty with Russia

My first thought was how much does Herr Trump stand to profit from this move.

Beware the Military/Industrial Complex? They are the Military/Industrial Complex.

This is why Putin helped Trump.

If he keeps going in this direction we’ll be back at war with Japan by the end of the year.

Russia isn’t developing these missiles to fight us.

Trump can’t stay in teh treaty if Putin doesn’t want him to because it’s obvious Putin holds something over trump.

We don’t need intermediate range missiles, which is all abandoning this treaty allows us to do.

In fact, getting into an arms race around weapons of this type only destabilizes things more.

The turn towards nuclear weapons that look “attractive” to use (like low-yield weapons that we could use to “de-escalate” a conflict) is a dangerous move. They make nuclear annihilation more likely, not less.

As for tech advancements, there are no systems either now or in prospect that can eliminate the deterrent we do have…from our sub-based missiles alone.

There is nothing to be gained from abandoning this treaty- there were mechanisms in place to deal with potential breaches…now those mechanisms are gone.
