When the EIA predicted utility battery growth in 2022, there was skepticism. Since then, planned projects have come to fruition as expected.
These batteries have quietly proven themselves to be very useful, regularly rounding off demand curves with several GW of discharge and storage every day.
Power companies have wanted to do this for decades.
It was bad (and power cproations were edil) until it was called 'good for the environment" then suddenly it was.
Even without solar power wind power etc. electicty demand surges around 5pm when poeple get home and turn on their stuff. Demand is at least 50% higher then than from 3am to 5am (and in some cases 100-200% more.)
IOW even an old fashioned generator is working at only 30-60% capacity most of the day.
Finally we have stopped demonizing corporations. Should have done this 50 years ago.
