I grew up on a farm myself.

Then the farmers you allegedly know are not keeping up to speed with what is going on across the agricultural sectors of our economy. Here in rural Missouri, where farmers dominate the populace, the concern and consternation is real, is talked about in virtually all political discussions, and dominates the local right-wing talk radio shows. People here are a mix of already furious to deeply concerned and legitimately worried about their livelihood and future.

I’m from a really small town (not farming) and two companies pretty much kept the area alive. One of the two closed up shop when I was ~ 14. It devastated our town. I know how worried my parents and their/our friends were then.

Yes they have. Although, I personally believe the market is over-inflated as is. A correction is coming, likely regardless of what transpires. But these trade wars will only hasten this reality, and could have significant political repercussions. I believe one of the only reasons Trump is maintaining the modicum of popularity that he has, is because he inherited an economy that was chugging along pretty well. When that turns, I suspect many of the luke-warm approval will turn as well. The cult will still be there, but they represent only ~30% or so of his approval, in my estimation.

With the enormous tax cut and deficits on the rise again, when it does come the US is going to be in a very poor position to handle it. We would have the choice of borrowing even more from the future… something I am sure the GOP will suddenly care about or austerity.

The foolishness of libs concerning farms is not surprising at all. Most farms raise a number of different things and most sales i dare say are domestic.

China tariffs might lower profits for some but certainly not the hoped for bankruptsies libs are apparently hoping for.

Plus the tariffs are probably short lived until they get China straightened out on their unfair tariffs they have put on us for eons it seems like.

You should really read a study, or a book or even use that thing at your fingertips to have some basic working knowledge, instead of just using the little personal experience you have acquired. Anecdotes are useless in a serious discussion.

I’d say that may be the largest understatement of the new forum. I live in a farm community where this stuff is being discussed every day, at virtually every local diner and watering hole. By men and women that this is deeply affecting. That poster is clearly talking out of his ear.

I am not a Christian, although I do have much respect for a lot Jesus’ teachings.

When I am not knowledgeable in a subject, I read articles/ studies by credible people in the field of the subject matter. Not pundits, and certainly not from random posts by anonymous people.

If you can back up your assertions with verifiable data, I will go through it, and form an opinion.

Were/are you a farmer? Do you have working knowledge of farming today, and how these tariffs will effect farms?
