FY2018 and the majority of FY2019 budget (don’t forget Trump threatened to veto the spending bill from his own party leading to the shutdown) was passed by the 115th Congress. Who controlled the 115th Congress? What fiscal year are we in?
So, I agree. Congress does have a huge share of the blame. Trump is calling for a $1.1 trillion deficit in FY2020. We’ll see what the 116th Congress gives him.

I’ll offer no defense of the republicans deficit spending. It’s inexcusable.
But.
Riddle me this Batman: would the Dems be spending less or more than the current level of government spending if they had their way?
It’s like a glutton telling a moderately overweight person “you’re fat!”
Historically speaking, a Democrat is more likely to reduce the deficit by increasing revenue generation to a level greater than what is being spent.

Who does the shopping in your family? Do you buy the groceries? The new furniture, etc?
Have you noticed that most things costs more?
You may have more money to spend, but you haven’t really come out ahead.
Of course!
I never thought the Tea Party crowd were just a bunch of racists upset about the first black President!
I’m sure they’re VERY upset about this exploding deficit! What time will they be here???

Never happen. Most people know that’s too expensive—but let’s try to address the OP, shall we, instead of robtoically running interference for the least fiscally conservative man ever elected president.
What have you got to say about the deafening silence of the super-patriotic tea party???

If people dodge away from Trump and the huge deficits, are they Tea Party people?
They passed tax cuts and lied about how it would affect deficits

Kind of.
A Democrat president that has a republican house does that, it’s the only time Rs start to care about spending.

Potential? How does this debt affect you?

You probably weren’t born when I was serving. But again, thank you. You got your money’s worth. Your ROI was through the roof.

Those are the top 3 points of the DNC debt reduction plan. How can we not discuss them? I am on board the Free Crap Train. All in.
If we can just do those three things, nobody will ever fail at life again.
The problem with the reverse is that when it’s a R president and a Dem congress, they “talk” a lot about debt and spending… but don’t “do” anything about it, and in action keep pushing for more.
Whereas when it’s a D President and R Congress they actually seem to act like they want it under control.
If it wasn’t for Supreme Court picks I would almost think a D President with an R Congress and Senate would be ideal.

Geez, higher levels of debt affect the ability to repay the debt or the purchasing power of the newly printed money to pay off that debt.
Which means that the federal government in the future will have to raise taxes or devalue the dollars I hold in my pocket. Both are not good options. Debt sucks.
Because a Republican President and a Republican controlled congress is like a drunken sailor at a Shriner’s convention.

That debt will never be “paid off”. It’s an illusion.
