LOLz. It is literally a million times easier to NOT select a Trump owned property. You have to go out of your way to select Doral. As if it was selected intentionally.
Now would be a good time for all the ethically pure conservatives who were up in arms about President Obama letting his family ride on Air Force One to speak out.
Actually, Senator McConnell is preparing the Senate for a trial that would run from Thanksgiving to Christmas. And yes, Senate Republicans are done with Trump. It is as much in their interest as well as Democrats interest to dump Trump.
There are plenty of places in the US which could be used. Places without such an obvious conflict of interest. Look at previous G7/G8 visits to US soil.
2012 - Camp David
2004 - Sea Island, Georgia
1997 - Denver (held at public library)
1990 - Houston (held at Rice University)
1983 - Williamsburg, VA (held at Colonial Williamsburg)
If you’re telling me that one of Trump’s private resorts is the only “safe” place for the summit, I’m not buying it.
I mean sure but it’s also just straight up self-dealing public corruption. I assume other countries could make arrangements to stay elsewhere in Miami but all of the US staff will stay there and they’ll probably charge for conference rooms, catering, etc. He’s just openly stuffing US public dollars into his own pockets at this point.
This is such a load of ■■■■■ There are few places less secure than a country club with a paying membership. Mar a Lago is a security nightmare for the same reason.
I haven’t had a change of heart as to Trump’s guilt.
I have always been of the view that impeachment should not happen until conviction is plausible. Conviction is now plausible, therefore I can support moving forward with impeachment proceedings.
I have had no change of heart regarding Trump personally. I strongly opposed him in the primaries, voted for Clinton in the general election and predicted before the election that Trump would be an ethical nightmare.
But I held off on supporting impeachment until I felt that public opinion and plausibility of conviction warranted proceedings, which they now do.
