United States government takes 10% of a private company

A public company doesn’t mean government. It means others own stock. It is private enterprise.

When government takes 10 percent stake in a public (as in stock) company what do you call it?

Imagine if Biden ….

they didnt “take” they worked out an agreement

do you work for the news? just curious

you’d be all for it

Why is the government working out an agreement with private enterprise to take a 10 percent stake in it? And according to the president doing so for free?

Like you are now?

If you’d call threatening to force out the CEO “working out an agreement”. Then sure.

I’m sure there be a lot of strongly worded “I’m not a fan” responses from the right. :joy:

While i don’t really expect people to jump up and down i like that people are rejecting it.

That being said The 2008 bail outs of the Detroit companies was the worst socialism like ever. Now “well it’s an agreement”.

For some reason for some it’s easy. For others not so much

what do you call it when the government controls the means of production through either ownership or coercion? How much of an interest in intel does a 10% stake give? I don’t imagine there are many stockholders with a 10% stake. Is 10% enough of a controlling interest to influence the company’s decisions?

The US did a pretty good job of developing defense related industry in WW2.
I do not recall FDR taking a 10% stake in any of the vital strategic industries.

How did you feel about the Obamasiah taking over GM?

Ah…The fascist bull ■■■■ again. I’m still waiting for president Trump’s opponents to be lined up and shot as every fascist does. The slow poke is sure dragging his feet here. I would start with the judges who try to block him every time he takes a dump. Any idea when we can expect the purging to start?

By comparison there are two important laws to creating a mutual fund
(as aopposed to a hedge fund, holding companyetc.)

  1. The fund must never own more than 5% of a company
  2. The fund must never invest more than 5% if its assets i a single company.

so, yeah 10% is a lot.

I wasn’t a fan.

fascist economic policy is what it is. You guys seem to confuse Fascism with Naziism. Fascism does not require jackboots, brownshirts, or a dictator. It only requires the government and industry to be in bed together.

and did you call it what it was? Fascist economic policy.
